It's a trade off I suppose. It'll only be available under licence and used by licensed sprayers (people). Problem with our beet and other crops is that it is only grown in the same area year after year so these specific pathogens and pests become concentrated in that area and need dealing with.

Maybe a couple of redbacks hanging around, but it's too busy for snakes. The Mrs has survived for nearly 40 years there
Plenty of frogs, they breed and the geckos come and knock off the spawn.
That gum you can't miss, we planted that in 1976.
The only tree that's there from when we bought the place, is an orange tree, that's on it's last legs.

October 26.
The first day this spring that the weather has been warm.
By warm, I mean that the breeze has been warm. Up to today, the breeze has been cool/cold.
We hit 27c today, probably the warmest this year since January.
Bring it on, take the rain somewhere else.

27 = too hot imo. My ideal temp is 65-75 F.
I agree about the rain though dave. You could do with all that in the middle of Oz.

Don't know if it's Avian flu or this blighter Suttonella ornithocola but I've hardly seen either a coal tit or a blue tit since August. I first thought they weren't visiting my bird feeder because of the abundant fruits in August / Sept but they've never returned. Woodpeckers and nuthatches are ever present with sparrows, blackbirds and robins scavenging underneath. Maybe the latter could be down in numbers but my tits have disappeared. Happy to say that I saw a tiny wren searching for food this morning which is good news as wrens are particularly vulnerable to cold weather.

2 photos of the freeze near Lake Michigan from the Sky News website. I guess the freeze will be followed by floods.
