QPR lost again at home today.. So there is still a 10 point gap between us and the relegation zone.
Our better news seems to come from elsewhere these days.

I was just having a look at the next 4 league fixtures and we are playing 4 crappy teams that are down there with us. With 3 at home on the spin.

Huddersfield (H)
QPR (H)
Stoke (H)
Big Club (A)

I think we might only need another 10 points to avoid relegation this season so we could get close to that before we play in Nob End's Cup Final.

We should take at least 7 points from those fixtures. Maybe even 10.

Udds and QPR should both be wins for a start. Then we should be good enough to get at least a point at home to Stoke.
Only potentially tough one might be away at Moob's Brum.

I know we are crap. But we are due to come good in some of the games and those other teams down there are as bad as us.

I predict six points from that. We'll get two wins against Huddersfield and QPR, and momentary relief and even hope will kick back-in. Then we'll do our usual limp performance at home against Stoke, followed by Mogga doing us over as Big Club steer clear of danger.

Great news from this weekend. Millwall only got a point at home, Stoke City lost again and as I type QPR and Huddersfield have just drawn 1-1.

QPR look awful by the way. They will probably need an unlikely win at Ewood to have ANY chance of finishing above us.

We are staying up say We are staying up!

Mowbray doing us a favour by losing to that other big club tonight. 👍

The no and new manager bounce might get us that 7 points with 2 wins on the bounce.

Well, so far my prediction is total wank. But still hope for my Stoke and Big Club predictions! 🥺

So we have got the 7 points, albeit it took 3 extra games

This may as well be called The Relegation Thread.

When I started this we had a 10 point gap . . . Now that gap is just 4 points (but now to in-freefall Stoke). The good news is the amount of teams below us. It is very doubtful that they will all go on a good run. So I still think we will not be in any danger of the drop this season.

Though we may need a couple more than the "3 more points" to avoid the drop (that I initially thought might be enough).

Will the spirit in the squad be damaged though? I'm currently reading about vultures gathering as our financial plight is becoming clear. Whartons already gone, Travis maybe and now there are whisperings in the press about Luton coveting Dolan and Brum eyeing pears. How things can turn around eh? Looks like even if we survive this season we will be nailed on certs for relegation next year.😞

Certainly not safe after the Swansea match. Just one point above the relegation places now.🫣

Ooooops! How the worm has turned.

This is the Championship. The relegation battle is going to be an exciting one - around 12 teams all within a couple of results of each other trying to escape 2 relegation places (Rotherham are pretty much down).

I still think we'll just about have enough due to the amount of teams involved.

Though next season we will be in a relegation fight from the start.

I thought the same a few weeks ago - I hadnt realised just how close we had drifted until yesterday watching final score - looking at our fixtures - especially the last one!! We must get at least 4pts Tues and Sat - otherwise we are in very deep shit!

I also agree on your Newcastle "shop window" performance

I again point to the "under te cosh" with Orr - players wanting relegation to get a move
With our shit show owners and their reluctance to engage at key moments, players that perhaps wanted away were blocked by incompetence? Gallagher springs to mind
If we go down - we would have to cut wage bills again
On a positive - I, like Alan, loved our season in Div 3 playing Southend, Scunthorpe etc (Oh wait....where are they now!!)

The problem is that if we go down the wankys will sell off our best players and I think we will struggle to get back up. It’ll be the 1970s again. Remember at the beginning of the season when JDT had been lied to regarding new players and Waggott said the objective was to stay in the division? Oh how we laughed.

Well. We can't talk about it just yet. . . .or can we?

Would League 1 (THAT'S THE 3RD DIVISION REMEMBER) really be that bad? (this is where we are now - from "blah blah Premier League jack Walker fans need to wake up to reality" - to the current "blah blah Bowyer-Mowbray Championship era fans need to wake up to reality"

We were pretty shit in League 1 if I recall. Hardly put anyone to the sword with amazing performances and of course did not even win the league and only saw off Shrewsbury as they had a key player injured and went way off the ball.
It was basically "play shit" then let one of our 3-4 players who were way above League 1 level win us the game. So we wouldn't be able to do that anymore. However we might be able to get within "X points off the play-offs" for a season or 2.

And breathe . . . .

So in the end, overall it's not been a bad midweek. Huddersfield lost, QPR failed to win at home and also Swansea drew (so stay within 1 result of us).
