In scenes reminiscent of Rovers' 2021/22 campaign, things have not quite gone according to plan for Penny Mordaunt’s Tory leadership bid. Penny surged into the playoff places, but as the contest wore on, and the opposition big guns were wheeled out, she ultimately fell short, and was left dreaming of what might have been. Beyond the bear pit of the Westminster hustings, however, Penny certainly seems to have made a splash with the aficionados of roversfans.com.

Although she might not have been first in the queue when brains were being handed out, (according to some reports), Penny’s doe eyes are more than a match for Rishi’s, and she has far luvlier hair, to boot.

As for that Liz “crasherooni snoozefest” (can’t even remember her last name), well - Penny’s simpering profile left Liz trailing in Penny's considerable wake. So, rumour has it that Penny is a closet Rovers fan. After a Friday night in the Stage Door performing drag karaoke, the word is, she loves nothing more than a bit of clay pigeon shooting at Houghton, prior to taking her place in the Riverside, behind the third stanchion nearest the Blackburn End (she's nicknamed the stanchion 'Sir Keir' ).

She may have been a 'part time' junior Minister, but there is nothing part time about Penny’s commitment to Rovers. And for that reason ladies and gentlemen, I’m proposing Pin-u Penny for Rovers Mascot 2022/23.
