It is where we are heading given the finances of lower league football and given a. the decline in popularity of provincial clubs, and b. the changing demography of post industrial northern towns. I simply see it as a matter of time.... if we are lucky enough to find any other club to amalgamate with.
Where do you see the direction and changes of the club in the future given that a place in the Championship appears to be well above our 'pay grade' as it were?
I can only see smaller clubs surviving as proper affiliated feeder clubs to the big 8/10 European super League clubs
Most small clubs will just go to the wall as less and less kids take any real active interest in football.
Then you might get new franchises popping up (Lancashire Utd maybe) who see a chance to earn a bob or two but they won't last long unless they have ridiculous financial clout or can hit the ground running and cement themselves with the elite.
The European superleague will happen soon for sure - they just need clubs to start folding to give it some credence as a survival plan/option
