We soon play at Preston, a small town in Blackburn.
I know a few North End fans and most are decent folk, however many do have a delusional tendency believing they are the big team of Lancashire- all I would say is take a look in your trophy cabinet, their last big ‘triumph’ being the Manx Cup back in 1925.
As for the ground ‘Dumpdale’ it is a bit like a tin of Argentinian bully beef with the top torn off: cheap, tacky and leaves a bad taste. I had a good look on goggle and came up with this vista of Dumpdale which includes the posh sports shop Sports Direct:
I did have a word with young Kate G and asked if she fancied a date at the forthcoming game, her response to the word Preston was:
However I did make her day when she as offered a trip on the Rovers Action Group ‘on the p!ss bus’ from the Brown Cow. This is not her first time on the ‘beer bus’ and I managed to capture a snap of her having pre-match cocktails at the rear of the Brown Cow prior to setting off with the lads for Rochdale last season.
As for PNE celebrity fans look no further than the World famous gay(*) Preston hairdresser Marko Tinky Winky Lawrenson. I managed to get hold of a photo from the Sunday Sport photo library that shows Marko following an all night session with a flock of sheep on a Welsh hillside:
(*) Please Note: roversfans.com apologise to any harm down to snowflakes reading this preview who are distraught with the use of the word ‘gay’.
Of course all Rovers fans will recall the wonderful headed goal by Matty Jansen to take us back to the Premiership for the second time. Along with many other Rovers fans the only tickets I could get were in the home fans sections. It did not stop us celebrating albeit I got thrown out (the only time this has ever happened to me) only to walk around the outside of th ground and get in with the boisterous Rovers following. I love this photo......
Since then the locals have taken to smoking marijuana to help them face watching their team, they even have warning signs around the ground!!!
As for the game I can see a Rovers win, lots of upset and tearful locals, and a punch up on the 152 bus home.
