Rovers Home Gates

The Burnley attendance told us a lot. There were only just over 10,000 Rovers fans on, however the JW Upper was pretty full (the most I have seen in for some years bar the United and Liverpool Cup games) and the BE Lower was the most full (at about 70% max) I have seen it for some time.

Looking at home gates last and this season suggests that we have been struggling to get an actual attendance of over 7,500 for most home games.

I do realise for league games we include ST holders whether they attend or not but 7,500 (at just over 1/4 full based on our new capacity of just under 29,000) is both true and worrying.

I think he means the Jack Walker Upper. I was there and it was pretty full where the plod had not closed it. The Riverside had a lot of spaces.
The Riverside was no less populated than usual. I would shut it as it is a waste of money opening it and it looks a dump.

It might look worse completely empty and a lot of genuine supporters have gone there all their lives and don't want to be moved. At least they are still attending.

It was a wee bit tongue in cheek- did not mean to upset you Alan.

means..it pisses me off when us boycotters take shit whether it be facebook, twitter, the dark side or on here. We are making a stand on principle and digs are still thrown at us.

It's because you punish yourselves and it does not make one iota of difference Abs. I do respect your stance though.

Me too but with reservations. It's all too little too late now. The time for mass boycott passed the minute that we dropped out of the Premier League.

No argument with what you are doing from a personal stance Abbey.

My own view and approach has since changed. I refused to get a ST for 2 seasons, only attended when I was given a freebie, did not spend any money on pies, beer or in the Club Shop. I also attended protests and appeared on Sky TV.

However nothing I can do will change the ownership and the protests have failed apart from the occasional 1 or 2 day media hiatus. I now attend - I do not enjoy the football (apart from Bradford away) but it is more a social event and a couple of pints with mates and a good natter and moan.....and I enjoy that. I also believe some of my money is going back into the playing side of the Club I love and that is important to me.

The V's will go when they choose, not as a result of fan pressure. I hate the V's wth a passion but I will not allow them to spoil my life; indeed so much so that I have hired a box for a game to coincide with my Birthday - the Rovers Business Department were excellent btw.

Didn't want to create a single thread for this but Rovers offering all 3 October home league games for £51 (£48 for 1875 club members). Bit of a rubbish deal really in Feb/Mar 2016 they had 3 home games for £30. That was in the Riverside it might have been a bit more in other areas. Does inflation and relegation really account for such a big difference? They probably did the offer last season too but I didn't take it up so can't remember how much it was. It looks like you can only sit in the Darwen End or JW lower too.

Speaking of this 1875 club does anyone know why you can't just get the bloody thing online? Presumably you can in person but this page just says phone.

I saw that offer too and all things considered I think it's pretty good value . Having said that I'm not sure how many will be sold . Rovers isn't an attractive entertainment offer at the moment .

In fact I'd be interested to see how many extra fans theyd get if they offered free tickets , for example , to a winter night match . I wouldn't be too hopeful of a much bigger attendance.

Our messages crossed Abs !
