Hmmmm.... Roughly what he said a few months ago. Rothwell and his agent must have had an offer from elsewhere and will come back harder in the summer if they see no future at Ewood.

Not really surprising as the previous owners (the Walker / Matthewman family) sold the business recently to Britannia Hospitality. Obviously BH don't see catering at BRFC as a desirable part of the business they aquired.

Northcote presumably having the unusual experience of having to balance the books now that the previous owners have pulled up stumps and defected to tax haven Monaco.

Fair enough, at least he’s now talking about the problem.

However the elephant in the room is that in too many games , Rovers need to score three or four to win . It’s always been a puzzle to me that an ex centre half didn’t start off by prioritising defence .

Perhaps I’m in a minority, but I’d much rather watch Rovers win 1-0 than 4-3 .

PS Any news on Al ?

I don't agree with a lot of what he says at all. No need to go gung ho and no need to fall back defensively either. Our Achilles heel is in continually giving possession away. To run a game down effectively the squad need to concentrate on finding space to receive the ball and then others doing the same so that the player in possession always has 2/3 options of players in space open to him. Effectively make the opposition chase shadows. Out usual method has been to stand flat footed whilst the opposition press forward and fire continual balls into our pen area.

I noticed Al was reading the mb yesterday so his health must be OK. I pm'd him (again) but got no reply and then I noticed he'd logged off. No idea why he's not contributing but he isn't. I assume that he must have fallen out with me / us / someone for some reason but he's never said as much.

Didn't he say somewhere that it would be 3 months before he could return to Ewood?

Indian U17 World Cup star to gain experience at Rovers academy

Blackburn Rovers will welcome Indian Under-17 World Cup star Aniket Jadhav for a three-month training spell with the club.
Jadhav played in all three matches for India at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, held in his home country, in October 2017.

The talented teenager will be the first professional Indian player to train in England at Rovers' Academy.

Mr. Balaji Rao, Owner of Blackburn Rovers Football Club, said: “We, as supporters of sport, especially football, want to help young Indian talent.

"Our Academy at Blackburn Rovers is one of the finest Category 1 Academies in the UK.

"This training stint will definitely help Aniket to develop technically as a player, which will in turn contribute to the improvement of his performances on the pitch.

"We want to support young talented footballers in the best way possible to help improve the Indian national team’s performances and FIFA ranking on the world stage.”

Jadhav, who currently plays for Jamshedpur FC in the Indian Super League, commented: “I would like to thank Blackburn Rovers FC for believing in me and my ability, and inviting me to train at their world class Academy.

"I am very thankful to Mr. Balaji Rao Sir for this opportunity. I would also like to thank my agent, Jehan Kothary of KSMN sports, and my current club, Jamshedpur FC, who have been very supportive of this opportunity and have assured their complete support.”

Mukul Choudari, of Jamshedpur FC, said: “We are very happy for Aniket. In fact, very rarely do Indian football players get such an opportunity and if they get it at this age, it is just fantastic, as this will only help him grow and enhance his skills further.

“It is going to be a win-win for everybody. As Jamshedpur FC, we congratulate Aniket for his talent and the opportunity that he's got, which we are sure he will make the best of and come back as a much better player and make us proud.”

Jehan Kothary, of KSMN Sports, who facilitated the training spell, said: “One of our main objectives at KSMN Sports is to assist young Indian football players in their development by providing them unique training opportunities.

"We are thankful to the VH Group and Blackburn Rovers FC for giving Aniket this chance."

I can't see the problem with giving the lad 3 months training at the Academy.

He played at the U-17 World Cup, albeit 18 months ago.
It's not like Balaji has sent his nephew over.

No harm done by giving him a trial just as long as someone else had a look at him as well as Balaji.

One thing I do know is that we'll need strong characters out on the pitch tomorrow and starting from the 1st whistle!!!! It'll be less about ability and more about character imo. Lenihan is proving a big loss.

ToMo laying it on the line for Raya.
Quite fair comments I think, although our goals against column is down to so much more than just the keeper.

It’s not Raya. It’s the squad’s lapses on defense. We need a couple of hard nosed, brutal, vicious and malicious backs to get the defense organized. We need 2-3 characters on the field who inspire a sense of dread in the opposition and teammates who aren’t doing their jobs. If we had those personalities I think we’d be top 6.

Sometimes those personalities include the keeper. I recall Friedel shoving and getting in the face of squad mates whose heads weren’t on their defense duties. I think Hughes expressed his opinions on the failed in no on certain ter,s on occasions. We need men like that, to season our collection of talented boys.
