Good win and three points in the bag. The referee team did certainly not have a great second half with a clear offside goal made by Middlesbrough.
Not sure what was worse the Dolan spin penalty or the offside goal?

One of the most bizarre games I've seen for ages. We should have been about 5-0 up before 'Boro scored their offside goal.

Pears
Had a good game when called upon. Aerially much-better than he has been recently. Had virtually nothing to do all game. Keeps the shirt with Wahlstedt having to wait and work for it. I like that.

Brittain
Excellent, particularly going forward. Laid it on a plate for Dolan early on, albeit not converted. Gets into midfield well, which is clearly something Tomasson wants his full-backs to do.

Hyam
Solid. A tiny bit iffy here and there with passes and control.

Carter
Excellent. Kept the 'Boro attack at bay.

Pickering
A very good game, and as per Brittain, gets into the midfield well to help with the attack. I think that's more his game than going down the wings because he lacks pace.

Travis
A theme I've noticed so far this season is that he ventures forward in wide areas. He is Mr. Dependable because he rarely has a bad game. Hopefully he isn't out for long. What were Millwall thinking when they offered £800k for this man? Sour grapes after the final game of last season?

Wharton
As usual, he is a superb passer of the ball, and technically very good with it, but makes a couple of mistakes in dangerous positions to let the opposition in. It's been this way for a good year or so, but he will learn at some point.

Dolan
He must be doing all the right things in training because I cannot see how he is picked based on his match-day performances. He slows play down, and he missed a guilt-edged chance today.

Hedges
A solid performance, and offers quality in terms of creating chances. I could have sworn his curling shot in the second-half was going in but for a Sammy Dieng who must have swapped with his superior twin brother at half-time.

Szmodics
Absolutley not doubt that he was my Man of the Match - nor anyone else's. He works hard, he knows how to finish, and was so close to a hat-trick. I love this man.

Gallagher
As usual, he works hard. He should have scored with a sitter of a header in the first half. Unsurprisingly, he pulled up in the second half. Made of glass, which is probably why he's with us and not playing in the Premier League.

As for the subs...

Telalović
Looks to have the turn of a Hyndburn bus, but he played a very good through-ball to Szmodics who should have sealed his hat-trick. A big unit, and although he is obviously new to this league, I though it was a promising half an hour or more from him. He'll adapt.

Moran
I thought he was fairly poor with his forward play, but he was very "MGP" in his defensive work. A good sign for a young lad. Means he's prepared to do the dirty work without thinking too much of himself.

Rankin-Costello
Brilliant. Did the dirty defensive work and carried us out of there a good few times. What a transformation he's had in the last year or two. I think he will end up playing in midfield in some capacity because a) I think he wants to, and b) Brittain has started to show his worth after his injury woes.

Leonard
Did well to hold the ball up when he came on. We needed a bit of smart play when the ball came out to the forward line, and he did OK.

Hill
Came on too late to notice anything.

Did I miss anyone? Overall, a good win against a side desperate for a result. 'Boro were absolutely dire in the first-half, save for a dangerous Latte Lath. Only an abysmal decision by the linesman cause them to make the game nervy for us. Tomasson was also visibly angry at them thereafter, especially after one or two decisions went against us.

Hard to tell if 'Boro will go on to right their wrongs so far this season. I can't understate how simple it seemed for us in the first half when the game should have been put to bed, but they pushed very hard for an equaliser and it was a feeling of relief at the end. Perhaps this is a turning point for them, and we might have caught them at the tail-end of a poor patch. Tomasson seems to think they will be up there at the end of the season.

As for Lewis O'Brien, I'll be silly and judge him on one game. If he's worth £10m, then the world has gone mad. Doubt he would have made any difference to us last season.

Overwall, we absolutely deserved the three points. Next!

Just back and really enjoyed it, really open game and again Rovers played some good stuff at times and really should have had it wrapped up way before the end.

On the pitch - positives were obviously Szmodics who I thought had his best game yet for us, Brittain played well, JRC was pretty good when he came on and Pears was pretty solid again, all in all probably every player barring one was at least solid. The negative would be Dolan as others have already commented. In fairness he's never been my cup of tea but while he's wearing the blue and white and putting in the effort he'll never get shit from me, definitely not during the game, but I feel the fans are getting on his back and in all honesty I just don't think he'll ever be that quality nippy winger that we hoped he would be.

Off the pitch - I sat in N01 and nothing really new to be honest. A bit of noise at the start of the match and for about 60 seconds after the goals, but way too many posing young lads that just want to piss about on their phone and contribute nothing to the atmosphere.

The inaudible alarm that goes off 10 mins before half time that see's half the BBE stampede for the concourse. I don't drink, but when I did, I could comfortably go a couple of hours without having a pint. You can drink before the game and all night after the game, why not try and watch the full 90 mins and get behind the team?

I know the Riverside massive start getting itchy feet about quarter to five and start dreaming of lighting their pipes and donning their slippers but FFS, at 2-1 with 8 minutes injury time, what sort of passionate fan would be happy to wander off home? People pay their money and can watch the game however they want, but I GENUINELY don't know why some bother. Stop at home, get yourself a dodgy stick and you can watch every game for next to nothing in the comfort of your own home. They contribute, and just as importantly, seem to GET nothing from the match day experience. I know, I know, they contribute their money but I for one could do without them.

Good to be back, we're unbeaten this year when I've been on! On to Wednesday and another toughy but certainly a winnable one.

Very true. Dolan though has hit insta status and has gone shite.
Dolan had a storming start to his Rovers career, but he has been out of sorts for well-over a year. He's still a young man, so I would like him to get this contract signed so that this distraction can be put aside. If we take Rankin-Costello as an example, I don't think I would have been too bothered about losing him a couple of years ago, yet he has turned into an unexpected revelation. Perhaps it can be the same for Dolan. He has shown in the past what he's capable of. He needs the confidence to do it again. I'm not saying he can, but I think we have to get this contract done and see how it turns out.

Call me old and sensitive, but what really pisses me off is that we score a lovely goal right on cue for Matt Sillitoe, and the crew-cut flop-head teenage supporters start goading the 'Boro fans. Just enjoy it to ourselves.
Well said. They need to grow up and grow some balls.

Forgot to mention, brilliant turn out from the Boro fans in terms of numbers but they were pretty quiet I thought.
Yes it was a decent turn out as usual by the Boro fans. Quiet until they scored and they did get on the backs of their own players a few times.

Love to read a review from someone at the ground. The first and last time I went into N01 was on my own about 15 years ago only to find I'd intruded on "the younglings'" space and a knuckle head snorting coke off a car key. What was I thinking? Never again. My home is the "rug n' flasker
" stand every time. Better leg room. Better clientele. 😄 Oh, and better access to get away five minutes before everyone else. :D
