Highlights don't even show the penalty appeal. Pity I wanted another look at that.

Stay away from Sky. They are crap.

You need to look to the club highlights on Youtube, which are at least a bit better.
The ref was blind. OMG!! We would be screaming the officiating had "relegated us" if that was at the other end. It was funny to note how sheepishly "guilty" our players seemed to look at the full time whistle.

Anybody want to do the match review? I only managed to catch the last 2 mins.
I thought about it, especially since it was a game I wasn´t expecting to watch (and as it will probably be the last one I´ll see for a very long while). But apathy reigns. . .

Why don´t you do one based on the last 2 minutes just for fun? If you add in Armstrong having breakaway chances that´s more or less how the game went.

For the record our MOTM was probably between Kaminski (who pulled off 2 decent saves that last year´s keeper would probably have let in).
HB in defence who was mostly sound, and Rothwell (his introduction seemed to change the balance of the game).

With honourable mentions to their keeper for letting in our winning shot (which a Kaminski would have saved) and the ref for not giving the injury time penalty that could have stolen 2 points and kept us possibly still needing a result to be sure of staying up.

I've watched it a few times and as they say everything evens out over a season. However 2 points in the Refs favour...
1. I think the player had lost the ball anyway.
and
2. The match was in extra time 'over time' anyway and the Ref would have been looking for a lull to blow for full time .

Not much comfort for Ram's fans though.

Spot on opinion, the game was over when the challenge occurred and the ref was waiting to blow the whistle. Otherwise tough luck Derby that’s the way it goes. We have had obvious penalties refused this season as well as them, anyway who wants Rooney to be successful!

I missed the rest of game after Elliot's goal, but the midfield didn't really function did it. I was saying at the end of last season that Johnson's legs had gone, and even though he was just playing in front of the two centre halves Friday night, he looked slow as a coach. Besides, I don't think we can afford the luxury of playing someone in such a deep midfield role. It exposes the other midfield lads and leaves us sitting too deep. Johnson's done well for us, but it's time for him to be put out to grass. Holtby has been poor most of the season, and has failed to live up to some early season promise, and looks an increasingly frustrated and out of touch figure, gesticulating at the ref and lunging in to daft tackles. Rothwell was an improvement when he came on for Holtby, but we know now that there is rarely an end product from him, and for me, he goes missing in too many games to be considered an obvious starter next season. Travis was poor, but we know he is a far better player than what we have seen of late. He seemed to be the most likely to step into Johnson's boots before he got injured, but he needs a run of games in a settled team.

Johnson looked fit and full of running early in the season, then came his injury and he's lost his fitness since. Looks to me that he's carrying too many pounds which if so is shameful for a professional sportsman. Not only is it a lack of discipline but it leaves a player likely to pick up more injuries.

Injuries take longer to get over for older players. I rem Paul McGrath who was plagued by knee injuries (and of course the price of vodka etc) ending his career at Villa where it was claimed because of his knees he didn't do any training between games. Once that happens weight gain can become a real problem for many players.
