Rovers v Millwall forecasts

Old Darwen Blue

Prediction Champion 2021 & 2022
First feckin' shot and 1 down. TYPICAL!

Am I being a bit harsh but it looked like that went straight in the middle of the goal as the keeper went down.
I thought there was a deflection on the ball.

A far cry from the days of JDT pre Xmas. This manager and his style needs disposing of this week. No wonder Ewood looks empty.
We still had 11500 on to watch. I'm hoping its is reminiscent of when Hughes took over. I seem to recall it took a while for him to get that first win.

Alternative viewpoint.............

Wahlstedt 2
Hopeless attempt at a reaction save. He dived out of the way of the shot for what should have been a pretty routine save.

Brittain 4
Poor. Flattered to deceive.

McFadzean 5
Half decent game.

Hyam 4
Poor match and especially from a Captain who is supposed to be an inspiration to his teammates.

Wharton 4
Tried hard but was dreadfully poor in distribution. Guilty of playing Div 2 clearances.

Pickering 6
OK ... just.

Garrett 7
Never say die attitude that we need from his teammates! The only player that I see that making a run just to possibly get in position to receive a pass or running back to cover a free man or chasing a lost cause doesn't appear to be a massive effort.

Buckley 7
The only player with an ounce of creativity tonight.

Dolan 4
Poor match. Where on earth has his ability to take a defender on and bamboozle him gone?

Szmodics 6
Sponsor's Man of the Match. Not up to his usual standard but put in plenty of effort. Instinctive finish for the goal and made it look easy. Championships top scorer and for a club in serious relegation trouble! I wonder if the leading scorer in ANY division has ended up in a relegated team? It is quite possible for Sammy to do so from what I saw.

Gallagher 4
Dreadful. His recent revival has well and truly fizzled out on tonight's evidence.

As for the subs...

Ayari 5
I think there is a half decent player here. Unfortunately the other half is rubbish.

Chrisene 3
Glad this lad is only on loan. Reminds me of Bambi on Ice. The epitomy of the old "his second touch is a tackle" comment. "He traps it further than I can kick it" also applies.

Markanday 5
Recent improved performances from the subs bench but he didn't show up tonight.

Sigurdsson 3
Got the assist for Szmodics' goal and even that was down to suicidal defending and a fluke after his first attempt at a pass to Szmodics beggared belief it was so inept. Rubber Dinghy man supreme.

We are a rabble compared to the team pre October. All confidance has gone leaving a dispirited, disjointed outfit at precisely the wrong time of the season. A team that was known for snappy one touch play now needs 2,3 and frequently 4 touches to make a pass. Szmodics excepted shot shy is an exaggeration! We were spewing points for fun in the autumn but the entire team were enthusiastic and up for the challenge, now it seems to me that putting a shift in is a massive and frequantly unattainable effort. 10 matches left with four against the top 4!

Finally. I enjoyed corporate hospitality tonight and whether it's important or not I can tell you that Millwall looked far more professional in the warm up / warm down than the Rovers who simply mooched about and did the odd tap up. I'd say the coaching team needs a good shake up or be shown the door too.

They must have been counting tickets sold, I’d be surprised if there was over 10,000 actually physically in attendance. People will not come to watch this rubbish. Time will tell on the Hughes comment but I think we know in our hearts of heart that it’s not going to happen.

That was the worst match I can ever remember watching.. I completely lost interest well before half time. Nobody on the pitch had any ideas.

I'm assuming you didn't watch us at Cardiff City. The first half in particular was the worst quality of football from both sides that I have ever witnessed as far as Rovers are concerned. It still got us a point, mind you.

For those who attended, would I be right in saying Wahlstedt received some booing when he got a touch of the ball after conceding that pathetic goal? I'm sure I heard it on Rovers TV, unless I've got selective hearing as my wife says I do.

I did not hear any. Most of the criticism was aimed at JE.

One only knows whether it's rubbish or not until AFTER the event. Besides our best performance for a long time was just 7 days ago (which you didn't comment on).

Cup game? Not league we cam
All dazzle in the shop window mate.

Cut waggotts loser now, get Bowyer in to the end of the year and we might stay up. Not a chance with pound shop Pulis at the helm.

OK they were both equally pathetic.

There have been a few of those.

I did not think it could get any worse than Spurs away until that dreary midweek night at home to Bournemouth (just days after losing to Burnley for the first time since 1066).

Then recent times have even surpassed those (at least some half games definitely have).

Worst football to watch that I have in my mind was during Lambert's tenure with that stupid bloody midfield diamond. Lambert who replaced the dependable Bowyer and actually made us worse.
