Are the fans still getting at JDT? I left the Wigan game 5 mins from the end in disgust at how nasty the atmosphere turned and haven't been back since.

Might give it another go if the poor guy is briefly managing to meet the deranged expectation levels placed on him.

Whats going on? Since the turn of the year and against all recent traditions for early spring the Rovers have now lost just one of fourteen matches! That one defeat was an aberration of massive proportions as it was a 4-0 hammering at the hands of lowly Rotherham. It rather reminds me of the seven goal humiliation at Ewood by Fulham after which we went on a 9 match unbeaten run last season. The current form was impossible for anyone to to predict after witnessing the Millers totally outplay and out muscle us at the New York stadium. Two top teams in the Championship who both humbled Premier league opposition in the FA Cup just a few days ago met today at Ewood with both sets of supporters surely anticipating their teams form continuing. And so it turned out, in a game which would have graced the Premier League the Rovers won by a single goal scored after just 4 minutes. A goal btw that could well be judged goal of the season! A sweeping move from box to box involving Thomas, Szmodics and Dolan finished with Pickering zeroing in on Dolan's clever pass to thrash an unstoppable and textbook finish inside the far post. 90 minutes later and Ewood's faithful joyfully greeted the final whistle as the Rovers banked another 3 points and for an hour or so climbed up to 3rd position. In between Dolan crashed a shot against the inside of the post and Szmodics was desperately unlucky to see a cheeky lob clip the top of the bar with Foderingham in the Sheffield goal well beaten. Sheffield for their part defended solidly and although never really testing Pears in the Rovers goal they always posed a significant threat.

Pears... 7 Solid and safe throughout.

Rankin Costello... 8 A class act throughout the match.

Carter... 8 Under pressure at times in the first half but never gave an inch.

Hyam... 9 Star performance alongside Carter in denying the Sheffield front men a sniff on goal.

Pickering... 8 A strong performance capped with a blistering finish for the winning goal. His partnership with Dolan down the left is developing superbly.

Travis... 8 Combative and competitive performance as he more than matched Sheffield Utd's aggression. Let himself down on a number of occasions in the second half by a number of poor deliveries spoiling promising attacking situations.

Buckley... 8 Getting back to his top form and behind a number of the Rovers best attacks.

Dolan... 8 Continuing in his recent top form. Provided a wonderful assist for Pickering's goal and was desperately unlucky not to add a second.

Thomas... 8 Growing into the side and the style of play. Showed a remarkable turn of top end pace on a couple of occasions too.

Szmodics.. 8 Bundle of energy again in both attack and defence. He doesn't have Bradley Dack's creativity and vision but does the work of two players.

Gallagher... 8 Best game I've seen the big lad play as he bullied Sheffields defence mercilessly. Why has it taken him so long to use his physicality?

Subs...
Hedges (Thomas) 6 No real improvement to the team effort.

BBD (Dolan) 6 Coming straight on for Dolan he played his part but looked slow and cumbersome by comparison.

JDT... 8 Whatever he's doing at the moment he needs to bottle it and keep it for future use. Hasn't put a foot wrong these past few matches.

Referee Josh Smith... 4 Did his best to keep the match flowing but missed a number of horror tackles by some of Sheffield's hard men. Basham and Robinson in particular were lucky to stay on the pitch.

So in the 21 games now that Gallagher has started we have won 16. As others have hypothesised I believe that he is definitely a confidence player. Now he is clearly in the right position we need to get firmly behind him now.

Dolan is one of the most exciting players I have seen in a Rovers shirt, defenders are clearly scared stiff of him and I suspect that other clubs are now watching him.

JRC is now receiving rave reviews and finally living up to his early promise. I think they mentioned it on sky that now we have Thomas in front of him it allows him to press forward.

That goal took 15.89 seconds from initial possession to hitting the back of the net!

Chris Basham is a big useless dirty Blackpool donkey. We can catch these buggers, can we catch Boro though?

Tony Mowbray appears to have taken the annual spring collapse to Sunderland.

As mentioned, haven't watched us much since losing my rag with the moaners and taking a break (for about the 10th time 😛). But whats made the difference from what I can tell is benching Brereton. Players like that who are a talisman ability-wise but no longer want to be here so poison morale and therefore work-rate of the rest of the team.

Gallagher looks back to his best pre-injury at Burnley and his effect on the team when playing well is massive. Dolan's relentless energy seems to be inspiring Smodics, Thomas has been an excellent signing. Buckley has upped his work-rate and Travis is just a proper captain for me, not surprising he's started getting noticed by bigger clubs.
