What a disrespectful plonker!!! Not one mention that the rovers were the better team and deserved the three points. He needs to learn a bit of humility and respect for the opposition in this league. It's well known that it's dog eat dog in the championship and that form is a less important factor than preparing well and being up for the challenge for every single fixture.

Seems to me that Wharton is critical to our success. I might be wrong but has he played 4 games and seen 12 points in the bag? His partnership with Ayala has been very productive.
It would not surprise me in the slightest if both Wharton boys were being watched by scouts.

Considering the Watford boards track record with sacking managers I suspect that he is desperate to keep his job.

Travis - 8.5 - One of my picks for MOTM - made such a difference to us. A great leader and played a pivotal role in winning the midfield battle, even when they went to a 4-3-3 in the second half. He's just everywhere on the pitch and is thriving in his role as captain.
Unfortunately missed this one (straight after buying a ST! 🤦‍♂️) so can't comment on this particular game, but I've been a huge fan of Travis for a while now. I think defensive midfielders get a bad rap generally. Fans (barring a few budding scouts probably) watch the ball during matches, so judge defensive midfielders too much on what they do in possession.

For me that position is all about what they do out of possession. Positioning, interceptions, marking, tackling and leadership. Because nobody tends to watch that (with the exception of tackling), you most notice good defensive midfielders by what happens in their absence. The absence of Travis in the middle against Bristol City vs him there for Watford, and its affect on the team's performance, says it all to me.

I agree. Tbh I think that is why Lowe got such a bad rap at Ewood. Fair enough he hasn't played at a higher level since leaving but imo his contribution was under stated and his biggest fans would be the two centre halves behind him.

In fairness, these were his comments straight after the game.... "We didn't start well, lost too many duels. That was really evident. Blackburn were sharper onto a lot of first and second balls than we were. When we did have the ball, we weren't good enough with it. We weren't able to break their pressure and counter-pressing and that made for a really difficult evening, especially in the first half.

"There was a lack of spirit and fight in that first half especially and it's something that we have to rectify really quickly. No-one at any level is good enough to just turn up and win a football match and we certainly are not, so we have to earn the right. They are disappointed and there's one or two people voicing their opinions as well, which is good because you need that. I don't want silence in there. We need to see a reaction. Blackburn were well worthy of the win."

So he did acknowledge that we were the better team.

Really? And I though he was a useless cowardly bugger who hid a lot. All opinion though eh?

I'd never use the word 'cowardly' to describe Jason Lowe.

Of course he hid! He used to run about a bit to make himself look busy but wouldn’t position himself for a pass. He if he did get anywhere near the ball and lost it he’d blame someone else. Remember Brentford away when we went down? Short memories on here!

Brentford away? The game we won 3-1 against a top half team? Yeah I was there and thought he ran the show personally!

So was I, and totally agree BB.
Lowe had the same problems as players like Nyambe - they believe their agents!
He was one of these unsung players that graft and stay where they are supposed too. I cannot remember many players who have dropped in and covered players drifting out of position better than Lowe.
So my memory isn't all that bad😉

Remember when his poor control put the ball out of play yet again during that game? He quickly looked around to find someone else to blame. Anyway you lot like him so bully for you. I was glad to see the back of him and he’s not broken any pots since leaving us, as great as he is.

Yeah admittedly I can't argue with the fact that he's now playing in League 2. A disappointing career trajectory for a player with 11 England under-21 caps, and who was a PL regular aged 20.

I just tend to stick up for Rovers players who become scapegoats. Absence seems to make the heart grow fonder in football, the fans chanting subs names phenomenon, and the optimistic anticipation that long-term injured players (like Dack) are going to solve all our problems. Whilst familiarity seems to breed contempt (the guy in my avatar got loads of stick in his 349 Rovers appearances) and the reliable players on the pitch week in week out seem to get a rougher deal.

I think it should be the other way round and a guy like Lowe, at Rovers for 14 years from the age of 11 and with nearly 200 appearances in total, deserves a bit of loyalty. If he wasn't good enough, the many different managers who saw fit to regularly start him from 2011-17 deserve the stick. He only deserves it if he wasn't trying, and given England u-20s, us and Bolton all had him as captain at some point, I find that hard to believe personally.

Course criticising players on here is totally fine and a very different thing to abusing them at the ground, so its the latter that bugged me.

No idea why but Buckley seems off the pace from his top form of last season, whilst dack is prob best used as an impact sub.
