Penalty!!! Saved. Great save by samba cos it was a good pen. Was he on his line though?
1-0
The answer is no he wasn't. Still an excellent save from a very decent pen but Var would have recommended that be retaken.

Breretons fault.
If I were you odb I'd retire to lick my wounds. BB and especially Gallagher today were absolutely awful. There really is no defending them.
They are not championship quality by a long way. It's reported Blackpool enquired about loaning Gallagher in jan. well they dodged a bullet cos he wouldn't get in their team! The pair of them are just bad jokes. If Mowbray goes it's them that will be the cause of it.
If I never saw either in the blue and white halves again I'd be made up. Im just left wondering why on earth did he sign them? It all just stinks to high heaven.

Gallagher Believed to have been rushed to hospital with a punctured lung. I’m looking forward to his review.

I've just watched the last 30 mins on fbook and jeez I thought I was watching a different match,we played very well I thought Davenport was outstanding and I was really pleased to see Dack running around and looking fitter.Im not a fan of all these subs and we ended up playing 6 or 7mins with 10 men.Elliot looked good wanting the ball, the two loaners at the back looked decent, and the keeper should have been sent off for the pen,did not go for the ball and took Nayambe who will be out with a hamstring. Was pleasently pleased.

Pal we are never as bad as some may post on here at the time. I just get disappointed when I know we were better than the opposition but still lose. I also get annoyed when it’s the same old scapegoats week in week out whilst others never get criticism. Just like life I suppose 😁

Brereton and Gallagher cost in the region of £12million plus . That’s big ,big money for the Rovers and it’s what makes their performances all the more frustrating . They just aren’t producing the goods . Like their transfer fees , not their fault , they both try their best , but they just aren’t good enough .

The pair remind me of John O’Mara , a big lump of a centre forward and a big money signing in the 70s ( £40,000 from memory ) . He was one big duffer and BB and to a lesser extent SG , have a striking resemblance to him in what they contribute to the team

I think the proof of how crap we were might be in the fact that in those last 30 minutes you speak of, nothing apart from the penalty made the main highlights. Which indicates our usual performance of ticky tacky in our own half with very little cutting product up front.

I suspect PNE fans aren´t waxing lyrical about their 64% ticky tacky today after going down 4-0, and we weren´t that far away from one of those type of results based on the quality of the chances created.

I just had a laugh at Taylor´s miss again after they hit the post. It was all a bit Beer-yton.

Forest should have scored 4.

We could have scored 2.

We have ONE striker at the CLUB and a Manager who blames Fans and media for player injuries.

Quite a week gone past with 3 defeats, the re-setting of the Clock, Fans fault for just about everything, Mowbray bitching like an underpaid whore and now the emergence of the Brockhall Cartel. What a fuck up.

Now I just await the V happy clappers to tell me they keep the Club alive.

It’s not the two players in questions fault what the transfer fee was OOT. They quite clearly commanded those fees for a reason and we were willing to pay them. That’s not excuse for constant abuse bordering on hatred for them, no one should be subjected to that. Very easy to criticise Brereton for example yesterday but what exactly did others contribute?
As far as I’m concerned when someone wears our famous shirt they have my support whilst they are on the field.

I think that OOT pointed out that the transfer fees were not the players fault. The fault is with whoever agreed those fees, particularly in the case of Gallagher who we had had the opportunity to assess previously when on loan.
When they are on the field no one wants them to play well more than me but I fear that neither of them appears to have the talent necessary.

No! This is not the average ifollow BRFC fan although you would be forgiven for thinking so!
Who remembers the scenes in A Clockwork Orange when Alex was forced into psychiatric treatment in the hope that seeing continuous horrific scenes would cure his mental state?

Well perhaps this Monday all those the tellies at Brockhall could be put to similar use with the entire squad being similarly forced to watch these youtube vids from 95/96 on a continuous loop. This is how to put a team with inferior talent to the sword fellas! I shall at this point offer Messrs Kaminsky, Branthwaite, Davenport, Elliot and Armstrong the day off. The rest of them plus fellow roversfans can enjoy watching a proper team in action!

btw sorry but I could only find those two with commentaries by King Kenny in the first and Tugay in the second.

First off I have to apologise for my tardiness. Since the long lost times of my post match beer fuelled late Sat night / Sunday am scribblings I've been taking the opportunity provided by er indoors 'enjoying' the shyte Saturday evening TV to offer my thoughts earlier. Well last night I just couldn't be arsed, plus we have been watching a few episodes of some Netflix offering (recommended by my slightly alternative daughter) called 'Lupin'. (btw 'Lupin' being some French chap and not my Daughter.)

So moving on.... My post match criticism of Dumb and Dumber was defended by their chief cheer leader ODB who informed me that Dumb had actually punctured his lung in the 8th minute! No doubt in the hope of forcing me to undergo some sort of guilt trip. Now imo experience of people suffering punctured lungs in the past is that they are very painful and debilitating. So painful that moving is very difficult and running an impossibility. I shall make no more comment other than to say that I didn't even notice that Big Sam had been injured for almost 40 minutes of that first half. 64000 dollar question was I the only alone not to spot anything unusual in his game? By some supreme irony I spotted this contribution by the big fella on Rovers.co.uk..... Sam: Opportunity knocks - News - Blackburn Rovers . Suffice to say a 1-0 victory over Luton at Ewood the following week has been followed up by 4 straight defeats on the bounce!:mad: This despite having the lions share of possession in every single match! Opportunity knocks my arse!

So what of the match? Most of you saw it and will; have to agree that something isn't working. As far as I can see our current form can be largely be encapsulated in two main points.

1. Lady Luck has deserted poor little Adam Armstrong good and proper! In recent matches he's endured goalkeeping worldies, dubious offside decisions, unfavourable rebounds from pieces of woodwork plus of course yesterdays missed penalty. It happens Adam, it's football, it will come back and the goals will start to flow again. Unfortunately son you are on your bloody own! The plain truth is and as I forecast months ago, when you don't score no one else will! Tony Mowbray needs to man up and admit that a huge chunk of money and massive wages have been spewed on two failures. I am of the distinct impression that he's desperate for those two to come good to get himself off the hook with the bosses. Well it just ain't gonna happen Tony. You simply have nothing to work with with those two. Neither has a good enough first touch and close control on the nball, most second touches are a tackle AND almost inevitably a loss of possession cos neither of them are strong in the tackle, neither have a shot in them, neither are strong in the air (in fact I'd wager Johnny Price headed more balls per game than BB does), SG does get his head on some balls but only as flick ons to the opposing keeper. Neither can dribble, neither have any special pace either the 5 yard variety or at the 'top end'. TBQH there is not one redeeming feature to work with in either of them. To be charitable just as KMD turned Sutty from a centre half to a feared striker and Le Saux from a tricky winger to an England left back it's possible someone could turn Gallagher into a centre half in Leagues 1 or 2. I see absolutely nothing for Brereton higher than a League 2 plodder of the Chris Brown persuasion. Next week Tony please pretend that BB has a punctured lung too.

2. The tactics. Every week we have the Lions share of possession but it's just wasted. Yesterday the possession stats were 63:37 in our favour yet Forest largely contained us, made themselves the better chances and by rights should have cantered home 3-1. I'm sick of seeing our wingers turning back on themselves and passing back to the full back or into a cluttered midfield, rinse and repeat until they lose possession. It's OK if the way to the by line is blocked by more than one defender but if there's a chance of rounding him have a bloody go! Better to fail twice and succeed once than face a barrier of organised defenders facing upfield. Perhaps whilst the players are sat there with their eyes clamped open and a cocktail of hallucinogenic drugs coursing through their veins this could be played on their headphones

"
You've got to hold and give, but do it at the right time
You can be slow or fast, but you must get to the line
They'll always hit you and hurt you, defend and attack
There's only one way to beat them, get 'round the back"

Predictions? I noticed a number of hurriedly changed predictions on here after the team was put up yesterday, in fact always last minute I went from predicting a draw to a loss on the strength of it. Another accurate prediction was ODB saying that he could hear the knives sharpening at the news the rather less than Dynamic Duo were paired together. I think the volume of that criticism is at a crescendo now ODB.

Kaminsky... 7 Solid enough game and could do nothing about the deflected shot.

Nyambe.... 5 Came off with another injury which will take quite a long time to heal unfortunately. Didn't have a great game but all credit for chasing a lost cause to the by-line and getting the penalty. Made up for his amateurish mistake in heading a cross to the edge of our penalty area for Mighten to strike home. My old fella coached that out of me at age 12.

Harwood-Bellis... 7 Booked for a rash challenge early doors which had him walking on egg shells for over 80 mins. Daunting task to mark wise old head and physically fading, but still physically challenging Glenn Murray, but he did very well in the circumstances.

Branthwaite... 7 Solid and mature performance against Murray and Knockeart as most of the Forest threat came down their right side.

Bell.... 5 Hesitant and lack of self confidence which unfortunately Amari has never been able to conquer, and in fact it seems to be getting steadily worse. Unless he takes a significant pay cut I can see him being out of the door this summer along with Nyambe.

Davenport.... 7 and my MoM. Solid and strong in the middle. Very much the senior partner in the centre yesterday as Trav still seems struggling to get back to where he was.

Travis .... 6 Not quite at the races yet but a much improved performance than of late. Let himself down with a powder puff shot from an Arma pull back which Samba saved with ease. Lewis lad ... Practice, Practice, Practice!

Gallagher... 2 Would have had a 3 but for having to play with that injury. Q. If it had been so debilitating why didn't he come off?

Brereton... 4 Started brightly but faded as the game went on. Mowbray lost patience and replaced him with Dolan. Just for a laff folks, the ifollow commentator declared something along the lines of "Dolan's stripping off, I think it will be for Davenport as Brereton is doing OK".:joy: Where tf do they find these buggers?

Elliott.... 6 Started brightly and played some lovely passes into the box which were wasted. One cross to Bell on the back stick in a real danger area saw Bell jump and miss the damn thing by 2 or 3 feet! Just as Elliot never appeared to have looked when playing Arma in the other night for the Rovers goal he did it again with the pass for Nyambe to run on to and win the Pen. Absolutely amazing vision by that lad. On a big presumption that he, Branthwaite and Harwood-Bellis travel up in the same car I honestly wonder what the comments on the relative 'abilities' of some of their BRFC teammates are. :poop:

Armstrong.... 7 Harsh luck for the lad yesterday. On another day a few months back he'd have perhaps had two goals to his name. Super shot swerved ever so slightly to the right to crash off the far post. Also a very good penalty struck well and toward the stanchion was thwarted by a keeper coming off his line to make the save. Great save all the same and if Armstrong was at fault it was simply that the pen should have been 2 feet higher or lower.

Subs

Dack... 6 (SG 45) An improvement in his previous form and looks to be getting a little sharper. Are he and Elliot now to be sharing the same role perhaps?

Dolan... 5 (BB 64) Again an improvement but with no end product. He needs to put New Order (above) through his car stereo on the way to Brockhall and back.

Rothwell / Buckley.. 6 ( Travis / Davenport 86 mins) TM's last attempt to throw the kitchen sink at Forest by replacing our defensive duo in midfield with a more attack minded one. Didn't work as Forest (and seemingly Ref Stroud) were solely involved in running the clock down by this time.

Bennet... (Nyambe 91)

Tony Mowbray... 3 As far as I can see this match was forfeited by playing those two from the start. What is he hoping for? Divine intervention and a bolt out of the blue turning them into Championship footballers? Taint ever gonna happen Tony. Needs to rethink his tactics. Again the main danger was a ball over the top to a man on the break, We've scored countless goals by breaking in lightning fashion. Somehow the ponderous triangles and square passing in the opponents third needs to be re thought out as it has become almost completely unproductive. A combative packed midfield to dominate opponents with a couple of speedsters able to run in from wide and support Arma might prove more fruitful but then I am a better critic than a tactician.

Referee Keith Stroud... 2 Same severity and type of fouls, one given for Forest the other for Rovers ignored and it went on all afternoon. I quickly grew to hate the bloody sound of his constant whistling. No one was more surprised than I that he actually gave the penalty. I'd rather not see this chap in the middle again for our matches. I'm not alone either!

Perhaps I'm better when sober OOT?;)

It's a shame the team can't match BB's pre-match notes and your post-match review Theno. The problem is that Mowbray doesn't seem to know what his best team is at the minute. As for the "Mowbray two", I thought Brereton did quite well for us earlier in the season until his injury. Gallagher is a big lad, but seems to lack a mean streak. They're not the reason why we're struggling though. Mowbray has to decide on a settled side, and pick the players to put his tactics into effect, otherwise (to continue the musical theme) - we're on the road to nowhere.
