The 2021/22 Home Finale: Can Rovers Pip the Cherries?

I don’t do home previews. I do love and happiness.

On Saturday at 5pm I hope we can say we gave The Cherries a good rogering.

Tickets are selling well. The BBE Lower is sold out. The BBE Upper will have visitors from the excellent Ewood Express in attendance. The JW Lower is totally sold out as is 90% of the JW Upper, and we may even see a good number of old farts in the Riverside Shack.

All corporate was sold weeks ago with extra now being made available in The Legends Lounge in the Darwen End. Tickets are now being sold in half of the DE Lower. Bournemouth have sold 1,900 (pathetic).

We should have a 20,000+ gate. Let’s hope the players turn up as they did against Preston and give them a jolly good rogering ☺

LT reports 3500 tickets sold on top of the 9000 season, half season ticket and final five offer ticket holders. We need to shift 5500 more between now and Friday to hit 20000. I wouldn’t have expected Bournemouth to bring many as they are only a little club anyway.

That was 24 hours ago. Ticket sales have been excellent since.

No
I wonder if there will be a pitch invasion?
😡
No the fight has slowly been sucked out of club and the fan base.
Sad
I have started going to the "dark side" where they snipe at each other but there does seem to be some that can still see we are being torn apart by inept owners and management at every level.
PNE with roughly the same fan base are offering STs £100 cheaper than our cheapest.

Bumped into a friend at lunchtime who is Ewood staff and he tells me we are expecting well in excess of 20K.

We still have the fan base but more sensible match day ticket and season ticket pricing is needed.
This is heartening but we have to be careful not to underprice the product . £10 a game is great value but financial suicide , if it’s offered too often .

As is £30 for average entertainment
That's football steve. STs are an annual declaration of optimism. Bloody great value when hour team is involved in a battle at the top. Unfortunately when the ticket involves a relegation battle its not so much fun and just part of the overall risk when buying one.

…….. and part of the downs and the rare ups ( and luckily we’ve had more than most ) of supporting a club in a relatively small , post industrial , permanently declining , demographically changing ( for the worse ) unfashionable town .

I know on here and you only have to read the posts , from Tony in Cornwall up to Wilpshire Blue in Scotland and across to Robin in Finland , we are realistic and understand the challenges Rovers face in a big club , money dominated , high wage sport .

Unfortunately on other forums there seems to be a lack of basic football knowledge and an overblown sense of entitlement . A view that Rovers , for some unknown reason , should be up there challenging the top six , playing entertaining football and just waiting to take our rightful place in the Premier League .

Until that happens they demand cheap as chips tickets and if they aren’t spread around Blackburn like ticker tape then their view is it’s hardly surprising Rovers only average 11,000 .

I sometimes wonder when their alarm clocks will go off .

Rovers policy does seem to be to tax the willing to pay at any price brigade - a bracket most of us on here fit into
But this fan base is dwindling for the reasons OOT outlines and the fact that a big percentage of the real hardcore are getting older and not being replaced by fans with the same mentality.
If Preston can sell tickets £100 cheaper to their hardcore , which, numbers wise is very similar to ours, then you would think we could too?
It might attract a few more - But when you can buy special offer tickets that turn out to be cheaper than your ST in the long term- where is the incentive?
The £99 for last 5 home games offer - bought individually only cost £95 - That is just so badly thought out, Fans are not stupid and work these things out
So why should I pay for a ST (apart from loyalty and perhaps a benevolent nature - Like Alan)

The Rovers Trust ideas were in keeping with modern lifestyles/trends but were ignored - instead we cart on with this suicidal policy of being the second most expensive team to watch in the championship (so far) in what is probably one of the most deprived areas of the entire country.
The question is why?

That throws up a much more sinister question?
Why are clubs like Preston and Blackpool not losing £2m per month

Somebody is making money from this shit show somewhere

Great points Steve . I’m fascinated by the PNE season ticket initiative and it’ll be interesting to see if it increases their crowds to any major extent , without an overall loss of income . Their lack of success over the last 60 years must depress their fans . No major trophies , no Europe and no Premier League experience.

I buy my season ticket out of loyalty no other reason . Rovers winning is the be all and end all . If I’m entertained then that’s a massive bonus ,

Like most of our generation I was hooked young with no expectation other than winning a 3rd Division Championship here and there . It was just great to watch The Famous Blue and White Halves and wear the shirt at school ( in Preston ! )

I forecast the future over on the dark side probably something like two decades ago. It's a problem for a club like ours that lots of supporters offspring are working overseas or in other parts of the country given the very limited opportunities here. All the big employees with the exception of BAC have been bought and moved or have simply closed down. Once kids go to Uni they become independent in a way few did in years past and the link to the town is broken. I know because both mine moved away for careers with better prospects than they could find in or around Blackburn, (although one has moved back recently). White flight doesn't help and especially not with the err replacements having little to no affinity with the Rovers.

As for making money out of the shitshow start with the players and their agents steve.

I still believe the Venkys have silent partners at Ewood.
