FT 2-2 prob a fair result but aggravating after going 2 up so early.
Seemed a good effort by the rovers fans.

Good point in the end. . . .one more towards Championship safety.

Too many other shite teams down at the bottom for us to be in real real trouble.

The added bonus is that we are still only 14 points off the play-offs. 👍 :p

That was a good, hard-fought, point. We made two really smart goals, and gave away two really poor goals from corners to Preston. After that, I think we dug in to ensure we came away with something, rather than let pride get the better of us and collapse on an ideology. I'd like to think it stands us in good stead to stay solid while we battle against relegation. The balance of our play was better than against Big Club midweek, and I would hope a solid draw in a local derby that we usually don't dig in to, should do our confidence some good.

Pears
I think he could have positioned himself better for Preston's first goal. Brady was given too much time to place it, but I felt it was obvious what he was going to do, and Pears found himself too close to the near post to do anything. Otherwise, decent enough, and made good decisions (even if under instruction) to go long on that awful pitch.

Brittain
Too soft defensively, but offered a good threat going forward. Understandbly penned back by a good attacking winger in Millar.

Hyam
Man of the Match. Just (see Gallagher). Best defender for us. Covered well on the couple of occasions where McFadzean was exposed. Made good decisions to clear when required. Continuing his improvemnet over the last month or two.

McFadzean
OK, he's slow, and it was exposed a couple of times, but I think it's imperative he remains in our defence to martial it. His experience is in knowing when to head back to the 'keeper, and where the ball is going to be. The two defenders around him need to help out for his lack of pace, but I think this is fine for playing solid, defensively.

Wharton
A good game. Tired towards the end, but he's only just back from injury. The correct call from Eustace to put him on the left side of the back three in place of Chrisene in this type of game.

Hedges
A good 63 minutes or so. Martialled the left side well, defensively. Didn't offer much going forward, but he'll get more active with more minutes under his belt. Another 60 or 70 at Cardiff City would be great.

Tronstad
His usual solid self. Lost the ball a couple of times in dangerous positions needlessly, I must say, but he put his body on the line and played very smartly to cover dangerous gaps.

Fleck
Alright - he's on the podgy side, and doesn't look fit, but I was somewhat glad to see him in the starting lineup given his experience and the local derby factor. I thought he was OK until his innocuous injury. I do wonder how the game could have gone had he managed to get that shot off in the penalty area. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Hopefully he'll be back soon.

Szmodics
Lovely smart finish for our first goal. Harried their defence as usual. Didn't get on the ball enough for my liking, but today wasn't that type of game.

Dolan
Worked hard, but not his day against his former employers (I must add, at his age during his time at Preston, I was working at a chippy). I don't think he did much wrong, but he just didn't get too much of a chance on the ball.

Gallagher
Was on course for Man of the Match, but after the first thirty minutes, he never got back into the game. But what a sublime first 30 minutes, with a cute assist, and a lovely finish for our second goal. Otherwise, he won smart free-kicks for us, and should have had more but for poor refereeing. A Gallagher in form is the type we need going in to the run-in,.

As for the subs...

Garrett
I was a bit worried that he was introduced too early, but he kept his cool and I thought he did OK in midfield. Nothing spectacular, but perhaps more importantly, nothing silly, and no customary yellow card. A good learning experience for him.

Sigurdsson
Think he's limited in this type of game. Tried hard to get back to help out the defence and so on, but it's really not in his nature to do it. A luxury player that knows where the back of the net is, but we cannot afford to carry in this league in my opinion.

Chrisene
We were noticeably exposed down the right hand side without Hedges' experience. Glad he was benched for this one.

And anybody know the last time there wasn't a yellow card issued, and especially in a good old fashioned lanky derby amongst two founder members?

Just had a few beers whilst chatting to both Rovers and some decent Nobbers fans. I did say how dreadful the ref was and how biased he was towards PNE, surprisingly they thought the exact opposite - some rose tinted glasses from them Nobbers.

Overall however we all agreed it was a fair result. We need to build on today. Cardiff away and Norwich at home will not be easy.

Well I don't go to about 60% of home games and 90% of away games these days, but when I do go I sing from start to finish. Started about 10 songs, joined in with everything for 90 mins to help join up the middle with the left side (facing the pitch) of the stand, and what do ya know the players battled like warriors.

I've given up on fans ever fully getting this after 30 years of watching Rovers, but we're the 12th man. We turn a draw into a win, and a loss into a draw. We saw great fans today turning a shed load of Preston pressure into a draw.

100 times better performance than against Birmingham against a much better side. Gallagher was magnificent, the defence dug in after a disastrous wobble before half time, Tronstad was a rock. Deffo happy with that all in all.
