All credit to this grandfather, he has guts. And the store manager isn't too shabby either.

The robbers, on the other hand, were utter cowards. The one with the "shotgun" has no idea how to use it properly, which may be a blessing. I suspect the "shotgun" was a prop of some sort.

Margaret Thatchers worst legacy (although I believe it was down to Brussels) was the ending of the practice of summary dismissal.
Summary dismissal for gross misconduct is still sanction available to employers . If the employee concerned has less than 2 years service he can be fired off without much fuss or statutory/contractual notice . If he has 2 years or more then suspend him , call him to a hearing , dismiss with right of appeal . Still defined as summary dismissal without any statutory/ contractual notice , but a requirement to follow procedure to avoid unfair dismissal .

He might not even have employee status ( agency worker ) so Swissport could just tell him not to return the next day

The concept of unfair dismissal was introduced under Ted Heath in 1971 , not Mrs Thatcher , but was spawned by the hypocrite Barbara Castle in her disastrous white paper “ In place of strife “ One thing we can’t attribute to the failing EU project .

And the employer get's no compensation. Not really on is it? A self employed contractor would be expected to reimburse some sort of forfeit for an incomplete job which fails the detail of the contract, an employer who gets rid of an employee in such a manner and without following the correct procedure to the letter would be taken to tribunal but employees can just swan off with little or no notice when it suits and no matter at what cost to the nemployer.
Similar in football. Managers must be paid up or at least a negotiated settlement reached when the club decides they are doing a bad enough job to get rid but should a manager seek a move whilst under contract compensation for the club doesn't appear to figure in the process. Why?

Can't find the original post on this, but I've had a positive prognosis on my cancer scare.
The surgeon reckons I couldn't have had a better outcome, as the cancer had not taken hold and gone through to blood vessels. They got the whole lot, and from here it's a matter of monitoring the situation on a quarterly basis.
Better still, he says, get back to golf now, exercise will do it good, but don't lift heavy weights for the moment.

So lads and lasses, I'm pretty stoked at the outcome, that all started with a government funded free test.
At the least, I should be around to see the Rovers make it back to the premier league.
