You need to be really careful these days. I had a call a couple days ago saying that they were Microsoft and asking me to switch my computer on, Asian accent of course. They got told to piss off in no uncertain terms. Of course their number was withheld.
I'm also very careful not to click on any download buttons unless I know exactly where they are coming from.

I can't really argue with this given the longer life expectancy these days. After leaving school at 14 my old fella did 7 days physical work per week, every week until he retired at 72. That included suffering a heart attack at 61.

However the old yardstick was a pension after 50 years work when most males left school at 15 and retired at 65. Very few start work now until they have finished school at 18 and then some pointless degree course or other at Uni, plus the almost obligatory trail around the globe for 12 months. 22 plus 50 = 72. I think they are getting off lightly. I studied till I was 21 so I've no gripe there at all.
Alternatively maybe it might be fairer to incentivize state pensions by awarding them after one has passed a certain tax paid threshold. That might prove a positive effect on some individuals.

Fancy putting the kettle on Abbey? We can all have a nice cup of tea.

Odd though how this continuing cull of crazed Islamic leaders doesn't attract international condemnation. I always thought we should have quietly taken out the leaders of the IRA. We had the men for the job in the SAS and I'm pretty sure replacements would have quickly dried up once they sussed who they were up against. Margaret Thatcher did move in that direction but then was forced to back down and withdraw them by mounting political pressure. Shame really, McGuiness would have been stoking the fires of hell 30 years sooner and Adams would have been next to him.

Wow you'll have the liberals on your back if you aren't careful. They'll say you are punishing the lower paid and the most vulnerable in our society.:)

If that is the case then logic dictates that the current system must be punishing the achievers and bread winners when for the greater good of the entire nation we should be rewarding them.

Can you tell that I was never much into cycling down leafy lanes whilst daydreaming about the unfairness of life? Always the real world for me.:)

Anyone had the Labour party questionnaire through their doors recently? I filled it in, wouldn't vote for them at the moment but it's good they're asking for opinions. Whether they listen to what they hear is another matter.

Goodness no! I live in Pleasington.:) However I view it differently. I think it's a shame that they have to ask for the opinions of the public because they really ought to know them. Probably illustrates just how far removed from the electorate they really are. Not just those buggers either cos the Tories and LibDems are no different.

Just as an aside ex BwD councillor and Jack Straw's No 1 fan (Sir) Bill Taylor has bought and renovated a property in Pleasington recently and has begun frequenting the local pubs. Can't wait to ask him why he hasn't bought his retirement property in his old Audley Ward and why he isn't supping ale in the pubs around there with his devoted supporters..... Oh wait I've just remembered they've all shut down haven't they? Just like Straw and Castle before him, they trade their souls for votes of any kind and at any price and then bugger off to see their days out in nice leafy Tory heartlands don't they?

Christ and what about this one. Woman cycles alone from London to Iran and then writes about how great the people of the middle East are and how we've got them all wrong.

And after this little work of fantasy, goes on to say she was groped and propositioned regularly, had to threaten an attacker with a penknife and wouldn't let her daughter repeat the trip under any circumstances.

Unsurprising to read she's a journalist. Presumably employed by the beeb given her clearly pre-decided determination to paint Muslim society in a positive light regardless of her actual experience.
