I'm becoming quite alarmed about what the hell is happening to logic in the political and media spheres.
The BBC's criticism of Champion in that article was them pointing out that the Newcastle abusers came from 5-6 countries, not just Pakistan. So I thought "she should have said Muslim men". Only to discover later in the article that the Sun editor said Muslim men and he's getting even more criticism!
As pinkrover says, it appears we have reached an appalling point in British society where people will be publicly silenced for telling the truth.

Yep to scared to be called racist..i couldn't give a rat's arse! People need to grow a pair and stop protecting these Muslim men and protect our young girls ..its such a sad world
I suppose the point is that any young girl should be protected against any male gang, however if that gang is protected for fear of being called racist then we are in a world of trouble. Ultimately they are just people and all people need to be treated the same under the law. This has not happened and this is why you end up with articles like this. It should not be nessary but sadly it is.

So he makes a joke about something and instantly it is a racist comment, honest I don't get it really. Does she think that because her skin is a different colour than the coaches that he is assuming she is a jail bird. So skin colour indicates the liklihood of you being a criminal, fucking hell really. I give up...either he is a moron or she is looking for something that does not exist.

I have to say I'm struggling to understand what went on here . Sounds a stupid thing to say to a player whatever the circumstances .
I presume it was a joke and sometimes jokes backfire don't they? Anyway her action has backfired as she's pissed on her chips for England selection is seems.
Just like with homosexuals it seems to me that many black people despite trumpeting stuff claiming to be black / homosexual and proud have actually cultivated a massive inferiority complex. As far as I'm concerned everybody who is fit and healthy with no obvious disfigurements or handicaps should be bloody thankful. How many obese / poorly / invalided etc people of her age would love to have the talent and physical ability to play for their country at football or any other sport for that matter?

Wish one or two of the female teachers at my school had seen fit to groom me at 15! I really don't understand why this is seen as so wrong with lads at that age, in fact I'd have voted for it being included in PE and made compulsory just like Maths and English for example......
...... unless it's at a boys only school and the teacher in question is a bloke of course!

Whatever happened to innocent before "proven" guilty (the quotation marks are a reference to miscarriages of justice) in the eyes of the court? Of course some cases are clear cut in terms of guilt but is this one of them?

Yeah it was a joke but one based on the stereotype that black people get arrested more, so I agree with her it was racist. Its a tough one in the sense that most jokes actually require some form of stereotyping to work, if he'd said the same thing to a white scouse player, would she have started legal action? Probably not and yet that could be classed as xenophobic to scousers just as this was racist to black people. Like I said, a tricky one. In this instance I'm not really bothered because he sounds like a bit of a knob anyway, embarrassing a player in front of the group when explaining match tactics.

Speaking to a mate of mine who is a DC in a team that investigates child sexual abuse, asked him about these grooming gangs, says he's not even sure we've seen the tip of the ice-berg, maybe the the point at the top. The gangs are one thing but there are many smaller groups who are more savvy than the older Asian men.
