The real Brexit thread

What is the most relevant historical analogy in terms of Britain's humiliation, Suez, fall of Singapore, loss of the American colonies at Yorktown, Maybe Dien Bien Phu?

Maybe none of the above. All of them involved a degree of bravery, however misguided. Brexit is just plain idiocy.

No, the current delivery of Brexit is idiocy.

The principles behind the decision are very sound indeed.

The sensible move now is to revoke A50, and either plan Brexit more sensibly, or to have another referendum. Of course, this is the Maybot, so the next move is bound to be something even more idiotic

In the event A50 is revoked, will there be Paris style protests?

It's unlikely the Brexit pensioners won’t actually resort to violence in the streets because most of them are quite old, and require good toilet facilities that are unlikely to be available during a riot; after you have kicked-in the Christmas window display of the Oxford Street branch of John Lewis, it is a bit awkward to then pop inside to use the gents.

Now I'm not in favour of a watered down brexit and I can understand the SNP wanting to damage the nation by promoting as much mischief as possible in order to get their independence but why are the Labour Party intent on doing similar? They have for over two years now. I'd have thought that most of the majority who voted Leave would live in Labour constituencies and it would be the duty or their elected representatives to carry out the wishes of their electorate rather than blindly following party lines to do as much damage to the Leave campaign in the hope of gaining political capital. Short term gain long term loss.

Just heard on the news that in November the average of seven major opinion polls put this chaotic and divided Conservative government 1% ahead of Momentum Labour . Unbelievable at this stage of the political cycle.

Whatever type of Brexit we get , it seems the voters would prefer anything to a country run by Corbyn & his cult .

The problem with the younger vote is that the under 40's won't feel the same revulsion that we do against a racist, a terrorist sympathiser, an agitator and a friend of just about every failing communist dicatorship on the planet. The young need educating and that task cannot be entrusted to the left wing educationalists.

Gav... How you could ever vote for an anti semitic supporter of not only the IRA but also hamas, hezbollah and just about every terrorist organisation going can only be a matter for your own conscience. I'm really amazed that the rank and file members of the Labour Party haven't kicked him out of the party yet.
The only good thing is that either the septics will get him https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/...support-says-lawyer-alan-dershowitz-0m7f8r0qv

or much more preferably this chap might come up with a final solution to our problem.

The younger generation are clamouring for radical change - which the Brexit vote has shown this country clearly needs.

And who can blame them with this nasty, hopeless, pernicious government clinging on to power?

Not the best PM by a long chalk I'll grant you. That accolade belongs to Margaret Thatcher of course. May has many faults but does she support terrorists and regimes that want to damage and destroy the UK like Corbyn does?
Is she anti semite like Corbyn is?

Anyway I'll add one more name to the people out to nail Corbyn besides the US and Mossad....... John McDonald. Now there's a wannabee leader if ever I saw one. I see him as a proper snake in the grass.

As an outsider looking in, May does not inspire confidence as PM. Her only redeeming feature is she’s not Corbyn.
Indeed not, however she does have fortitude. How many in her position would either have resigned or suffered a breakdown by now? Unfortunately when she needs support and unity she isn't getting it because of the nature of the deal and the nature of the House. Sometimes democracy doesn't work as intended. Too many hidden agendas out there. When we leave with no deal she'd better get it then.

Im surprised you were aware of that incident , wasn’t that when you were a babe in arms “ Chris “ ? Well done, your knowledge of modern parliamentary history is much more impressive than your knowledge of the Union flag and the nations it represents .

Yep another prat . Chief of the Remoaners , Heseltine , lost the plot a long time ago . Time he was put out to grass
