Interesting article on the fall from grace of Yu and You at Copster Green.
I wondered why there had been a re-branding recently.

Good! Yu and You's has been on my banned list for many years. An establishment that owed much of it's early success to the patronage of the Walker family and has been a rip off for years since. The food although expensive was excellent until the old fella handed over to his useless son Victor. (Way too fly that bugger imo.)
I saw that TV final and imo You and Yu's were a million miles behind the restaurant which came runners up. That Vincent was well out of his depth that night and could only serve the table of 4 with the wagyu fillet one at a time!! Even Ramsey gave him a bollocking! Fact of the matter imo was that Ramsay's business had overeached and was in massive financial doo doo itself at the time. Ramsay was desperate for money so go figure.:poop:

The restaurant advised the member of staff who made the error to keep their "chin up."

Yeah right!

btw I've eaten in the Hawksmoor courtesy of a smashing birthday treat from my kids. Foods OK but the experience is overrated and overpriced. In fact although me n er indoors dine out quite frequently we only very very rarely eat steak as we are both of the opinion that we can prepare a steak dinner better at home.

It's all bollocks and totally related to income. Sure one can usually tell the difference between bottles of wine at 10 quid and 50 quid but we are talking 5 grand here and the human palate isn't that discerning........ unless someone else is paying of course.

This reminds me of the time I was working in the city back in the early 80s.
I went next door to this gourmet sandwich place in a large store. Adjacent to this place was a liqour store, so I browsed around and came across a bottle of Renfolds Grange (Australia's premier wine) priced at $13.51 per bottle.
I asked the person behind the counter if they had a case, came back and said they had. So I took it 1 doz @ $13.51. They had the wrong price on it. This stuff sells at $6-700 per bottle these days.
I kept one bottle and sold the rest at auction a few years later.
Just to back what Drog has said about telling the difference in expensive wines when we drank the bottle I kept in was definitely underwhelming. Since confirmed by consuming a Grange my mate opened a couple of years ago.

Bit of a wine ignoramus tbh. So a good Amarone being as pricey as I want to go for a bottle of wine. For white a decent Chablis is my choice. As far as cheaper everyday table wines we seem stuck on Chilean.

Played golf the other night and ended up in the Achari restaurant on the site of the old Vauxhall pub on Redlam. I've got to say that I was mightily impressed. Nice decor and the 'Midweek special' menu comprised Poppadoms accompanied with the usual variety of dips, followed by choice of any starter and a choice of any main course plus either a choice of Nan bread or a choice (from 5) of rice to accompany. All served by smart and courteous waiters. Total an unbelievable £9.95! I've no idea how they do it or how they hope to make any money but there it is.
All courses very tasty and well prepared too. Washed down with Cobra at £3.50 per pint. Food was excellent or I wouldn't be writing this. I should also mention that any starter or main featuring King Prawns cost an extra couple of quid.

Only downside was one or two other diners who had more tattoos than enough and a conversation to match. However at that price I shall go again...... Or at least until it gets the seemingly inevitable zero score at some time in the future from the Borough's food inspectors.

Silly reporting. It's not a pathetic religious issue where one small scrap of meat will apparently prevent a follower from entering the kingdom of heaven or whatever stupid notion they hold, it's just a logistics issue. I'm pretty sure most veggies wouldn't be over bothered and who cares what vegans think?

Not content with dry January it seems to me like we are about to be submerged if anti meat propaganda. Turn vegen, save the planet and then book a nice holiday half way around the world and burn up fuel and oxygen for fun like my mate's just done. In his defence he has no kids so he won't give a flying one about the future well being of the planet will he?

Plenty people care what vegans think nowadays.
Greggs, KFC, McDonalds, Subway have all managed to do vegan stuff but BK seem to have made an own goal of it.

Just another route to profit. Much like the daft organic craze and GM modified stuff etc. Sell cheap stuff at premium prices and the job is a gud un.

Yep agree. I can't remember the last time I went to McDonalds, BK, KFC or Subway, even in the US but it's more than 10 years ago.
