He had five years let’s remember, most don’t get that long. He had taken us as far as he could.
Given we went from 15th in his second last season, to 8th in his last season, I'm not sure what the evidence is that he'd taken us as far as he could. I've heard the argument a lot, but I feel like it doesn't take into account his last season. In that he clearly came up with a different system (going 5 at the back after the Fulham game), which conceded 5 goals in the next 13 games and got us up to 2nd. It was heavily reliant on Brereton playing out of his skin at the other end, so stopped working when he got injured. But either way new things were still happening that he hadn't tried before, so I'm not sure how fans can know he'd taken us as far as he could.

“But with Tony Mowbray beating him, perhaps Blackburn will regret the decision to let the current Birmingham boss leave a few years ago.”

And perhaps not.

Got a poor Sunderland squad into the playoffs last season. Seems to be sorting out Birmingham who are now above us. Not done too badly since he was let go by us.
That is beyond question. My belief is that TM had run his course with us, few managers get five years at a club. It was time for a change.

Well Mowbray was here 7 seasons for a start and overachieved all but the first when he arrived too late to save us from relegation, but I can name any number of high profile ones who have lasted longer even than that. Alex Ferguson? Arsene Wenger? Sam Allardyce? Sean Dyche? Pep Guardiola? Jurgen Klopp?

Longevity normally equals success or at least lays the foundations for future success. Btw Drog Mowbray was here 5 years but I’m assuming a typo!

Hoping that Tony Mowbray is back to full health soon. I was only thinking about him yesterday when I was watching the Sky matches and the thought that there are a few Premier League players who have had some time under his managerial career at Rovers. BBD, Jason Steele and Paul Von Hecke and Amari Bell; couldn’t remember if he signed Kaminski?
Then you’ve got Harvey Eliot, Harrison Reed, Branthwaite, Armstrong, Harwood Bellis, Rothwell, Raya, Wharton and those I’ve forgotten!

Youve missed the legendary Ben Brereton Diaz.

What's up with Moobs? Did he get a bit too excited after beating both the clubs that 'sacked him off' within a few days . . .

So he’s injured then as the last Sheff Utd match report I read said he played rather well?
