Poor McGuire is the victim here, he would have been miles better off at Sheff Wed (who prob employ capable and literate employees). As far as hoping to sign him in the summer that must hinge on a number of issues, notably what division we will be in and what any new manager might think of him.

My understanding of a pre-contract is that it can be agreed and legalised right away. It's just a matter of whether or not McGuire would want to settle things now, or bide his time and see if anyone else is interested.

It was reported that the Board of Directors made the decision to stop the permanent deal for McGuire last month. Can they make that decision without consulting the owners? How does that side of a business work? I'm a dullard when it comes to this.

McGuire was told of the Rovers permanent deal for £2.3m breaking down before he boarded the flight to the UK. The deal breaking down mid-flight is wide of the mark. His intention was to join Sheffield Wednesday, but when that broke down, he was coming to Rovers on an agreed loan to buy deal, with a purchase price of £3.6m in summer.
