Downing signed. I'd be interested in knowing the signing on bung he's been given. A free agent and player of reputation will want a nice wedge to sign a contract.

I hear on the grapevine (ITK) that he has 33 1/3 discount at Blues Bar.

I spoke to Fielding's brother last week and he virtually said Frank would walk back to Blackburn if they wanted him. However I do believe there are better and more 'influential' keepers out there

Comings and goings won't come into it as there is many a slip twixt cup and lip with transfers geedog. tbh many transfers extended to 3 weeks into the season until this year and players had already made appearances for their old club before someone came in for them. I recall they winched Duff off a plane to our pre-season tour when Chelsea agreed the fee and he left our party and immediately flew off to join Chelsea on their pre season tour of Malaysia.
Clubs and players will just get on with things as normal until documents are signed. Only reason for not taking them with the squad would be if there is any acrimony between any player and the squad / manager / selling club. Imagine if our 'target' (if we have one) has a change of mind or someone comes in with more money etc, Leutwiler get's an injury and all we have to start the season with is an unfit and unready GK?

So the under 23s being part of the first time it is then ..........

This is very good news. I have been very impressed with the guy and this is staged development.

Hmmmm..... Derby's midfield inc Johnson was brushed aside and reduced to a watching brief at ewood in April. Blown away by the dream team in midfield of Travis, Reed, Rothwell and Conway. I feel Reed will be at neither Ewood nor Soton next season. If only TM had played that midfield pairing more often instead of selecting Evans first and sticking Reed on the right wing he might still be here.:pensive:

Five weeks tomorrow the transfer window closes.

Is everything coming together behind the scenes?
Will we panic buy?
Will we stick with the same group as last season, albeit with Samuel, Davenport and Chapman seeming like new signings?
I don't think we should pay over the odds for average players but ToMo did say he wanted to strengthen the spine of the side, so some incomings are surely expected?

Seems to me that Mowbray is determined to bring in an old head. Might be reading too much into it but it's maybe a sign that he is going to look to bring in some more of the young guns.
