Exactly my feelings. Dealing with customers and the general public is my idea of hell. That said this kind of approach isn't one that's guaranteed to fail. Look at much bigger businesses like Ryanair where the Chief Exec has been known to insult customers. I think he may have toned it down a bit but it didn't really hurt to begin with.

Comments on the NEWS this morning says that there's serious money to be made on youtube for this sort of sh1t ket and that is his most likely intention. If that is the case then the freeing charge should be calculated x10. The comic value runs out when one considers that some poor bugger elsewhere could have died (or even might have died) whilst the emergency services were freeing that knob's cranium.
Best answer would be either find a plug socket and switch it on or employ the use of a sledgehammer. I prefer the former as cremation charges would be avoided.
