We need a bloody good centre half

We need a Derek Fazackerley,A Gleen Keeley,a Grahame Hawkins,a John Macnamee,a Alan Hunter and get Lenehan in midfield.I watched debacle at Bramhall Lane and jesus for anyone off them players.

Much easier for full backs if central defence is solid , organised , communicating - and covering !

Much easier for centre halves if they have good full backs to the side of them too OOT. A CH has to continually leave his post to cover for a bad full back.

Give me two ( bloody ) good centre halves and two average full backs , rather than the other way round .

Maybe OOT but my opinion is that our centre halves are both current internationals and much better than our full backs who never will be capped unless they change nationality to that of San Marino. The full backs are my priority.

Fair point Drog , although in Charlie’s case , ( who I think would make a Beckenbauer type in a back 5 or back 4 with a commanding centre half /halves ) are Scotland that much better than San Marino at the moment ?

I’m not sure if I’d ship out Mulgrew and Evans , but the other 3 probably . Lenihan has been a big disappointment for me . He was immense last season ( from what I saw in the home games) but he’s struggling in this division .

Bell just isn’t my type of full back and Im afraid he isn’t a good enough in a left sided midfield role . Perhaps he might just get in the side in a back 5 , where we had a decent middle 3

Smallwood is 3rd Division at best .

I agree that we need a lot more focus on the defense side of the team. Is there any word as to whether TM will be allowed funds?

The problem with our squad is that we have poor full backs, poor wingers and about half a dozen number 10's.

The transfer window has been open for 4 days now. Anybody heard any rumours? My thoughts are above.
I previously thought we needed central midfielders too but Reed and Travis have changed my mind on that. A winger to replace Conway and a back up for Danny Graham are more important. Brereton would benefit by having the rest of the season with the U23,s if he is to realise his promise. His fee is making us forget that he is only 19.
