Home support : Biggest crowd of the season at Ewood and far from a vintage performance but ANOTHER win. If we're not happy with playing average and winning it's surely better than playing well and getting beat. If we as fans are only happy when we play well and win then there'll be a lot of disappointed fans across the country every Saturday.
There's nothing new I can say about our home support. Cards on the table, it's the worst in the whole league hands down. It saddens me because I'm as passionate as any Leeds fan, any Newcastle fan, any Burnley fan or any other club you care to mention but we simply do not have enough passionate supporters to make Ewood a decent place to watch football. I'll probably upset a few but being a loyal supporter does not make you a passionate one, we need both, we need the loyal passionate partisan noisy fan and I'm sorry to say that type of fan is becoming a very rare breed, no more so than at Ewood.
Our clan AGAIN did the club proud. BAWH was there and I can confirm what we all thought - he has a big mouth
. There was actually quite a few more in this section today due to the cheaper tickets but they weren't W01 material and actually had an adverse effect on the atmosphere in there, it was the poorest it's been in the first half but picked up in the second and we never stopped singing for the last half hour. Proud to be one of them.
EDIT looking at others comments especially BAWH who knows his stuff I've upgraded the home support to a 4. Maybe my ears are worse than I thought!
Away support : Again very disappointed with the away support today, just because we're shite doesn't mean I can't criticise anyone else's if it's warranted. Considering they're bottom of the league and way under performing on pre season expectations, the numbers were ok. But they are another fan base that failed to get behind their team when behind. What happened to trying to lift your team when things are at there worst? I can say it because I've been super critical of the Rovers fans for not being able to do it in the past.
EDIT away following was officailly 1289, looked more, but that was the official number.
The average football fan has become a sing when you're winning type and that's a type I don't like. As poor as the Rovers fans today.
Anything Funny/Of Interest? : Maybe a chant that you had to be there to find funny but there was a youngish chunky lad in the away end that kept approaching the Rovers section and giving it "big" I think they call it. Our very own BAWH noticing he had a bag over his shoulder and started the chant "Da da da fatties got a man bag.........." It probably appeals to my small brain but I found it very funny and it soon shut him up!
I found out that one of the most passionate singers in this section has been banned while some investigations are made. At the Birmingham game there was a lot of banter back and forth between our section and a middle aged woman who was certainly giving as good as she got. After the game however she complained to Birmingham and the Rovers about the incident and for some reason this one fan was singled out and had a letter telling him he wouldn't be able to attend until investigations are complete.
People will have their own views but if you start banning people from the stadiums for what amounts to foul and abusive language then you'd end up with about 2000 in the stands and the ref and two linesman on the pitch!
Summary : Another win, another shite support at Ewood, that's the tale of the season really. If anyone thinks I'm being over critical of our support you're more than welcome to come on and give an alternative viewpoint. Maybe I'm being unrealistic in expecting a banging atmosphere every home game, but it'd be nice to have more than 1 or 2 a season.
We missed a chant today in W01...... I've never felt more like singing the blues when Rovers win and Burnley lose, oh Rovers, you got me singing the blues..........
