HUDDERSFIELD HOME

Attendance : 15.179
Away following : 1289 Approx - % of home average 7%
Home support rating : 4/10
Away support rating : 3/10

Home support :
Biggest crowd of the season at Ewood and far from a vintage performance but ANOTHER win. If we're not happy with playing average and winning it's surely better than playing well and getting beat. If we as fans are only happy when we play well and win then there'll be a lot of disappointed fans across the country every Saturday.

There's nothing new I can say about our home support. Cards on the table, it's the worst in the whole league hands down. It saddens me because I'm as passionate as any Leeds fan, any Newcastle fan, any Burnley fan or any other club you care to mention but we simply do not have enough passionate supporters to make Ewood a decent place to watch football. I'll probably upset a few but being a loyal supporter does not make you a passionate one, we need both, we need the loyal passionate partisan noisy fan and I'm sorry to say that type of fan is becoming a very rare breed, no more so than at Ewood.

Our clan AGAIN did the club proud. BAWH was there and I can confirm what we all thought - he has a big mouth 😀. There was actually quite a few more in this section today due to the cheaper tickets but they weren't W01 material and actually had an adverse effect on the atmosphere in there, it was the poorest it's been in the first half but picked up in the second and we never stopped singing for the last half hour. Proud to be one of them. EDIT looking at others comments especially BAWH who knows his stuff I've upgraded the home support to a 4. Maybe my ears are worse than I thought!

Away support :
Again very disappointed with the away support today, just because we're shite doesn't mean I can't criticise anyone else's if it's warranted. Considering they're bottom of the league and way under performing on pre season expectations, the numbers were ok. But they are another fan base that failed to get behind their team when behind. What happened to trying to lift your team when things are at there worst? I can say it because I've been super critical of the Rovers fans for not being able to do it in the past. EDIT away following was officailly 1289, looked more, but that was the official number.

The average football fan has become a sing when you're winning type and that's a type I don't like. As poor as the Rovers fans today.

Anything Funny/Of Interest? : Maybe a chant that you had to be there to find funny but there was a youngish chunky lad in the away end that kept approaching the Rovers section and giving it "big" I think they call it. Our very own BAWH noticing he had a bag over his shoulder and started the chant "Da da da fatties got a man bag.........." It probably appeals to my small brain but I found it very funny and it soon shut him up!

I found out that one of the most passionate singers in this section has been banned while some investigations are made. At the Birmingham game there was a lot of banter back and forth between our section and a middle aged woman who was certainly giving as good as she got. After the game however she complained to Birmingham and the Rovers about the incident and for some reason this one fan was singled out and had a letter telling him he wouldn't be able to attend until investigations are complete.

People will have their own views but if you start banning people from the stadiums for what amounts to foul and abusive language then you'd end up with about 2000 in the stands and the ref and two linesman on the pitch!

Summary : Another win, another shite support at Ewood, that's the tale of the season really. If anyone thinks I'm being over critical of our support you're more than welcome to come on and give an alternative viewpoint. Maybe I'm being unrealistic in expecting a banging atmosphere every home game, but it'd be nice to have more than 1 or 2 a season.

We missed a chant today in W01...... I've never felt more like singing the blues when Rovers win and Burnley lose, oh Rovers, you got me singing the blues..........

It sounded like there was a decent atmosphere today.

Banned for foul and abusive language?
Spot on.

Before playing the gender card you should understand she knew more swear words and hand gestures than any of our lot. If you can't take it don't give it. SImple.

the BB end were pretty noisy today imo. Difficult though when the team were on the back foot and rarely out of our own half for the last 30 mins.

Yeah personally I thought the Blackburn End sounded ok today. Its easy to under-estimate how easily sound dies over the distance. When I was in the Blackburn End I rarely heard the away fans. I bet its hard to hear us in W01 (excluding the drum).

Atmosphere was decent enough today overall, although definitely lessened in our bit for not having that lad who starts a lot of the songs. Honestly being banned for giving stick to that Birmingham woman who spent 3/4 of the match as close to us as she could get screeching like some demented harpy is a joke. If she'd been a bloke, she'd have been ejected by half-time.

Anyway was good to meet 1SG at last! Agree it was a slightly strange one today having families in amongst us with the bigger home crowd. Felt uncomfortable with some of the more x-rated songs with kids about. Glad you liked my man-bag one though 😆

Never a middle aged woman
If a middle aged woman acts like a drunken abusive teenage bloke then she’s fair game for a bit of abuse back, otherwise one could be accused of gender bias and these days that’s a very naughty thing. Chivalry is dead. I might add that I wasn’t there though.

Some interesting away following at the weekend. Burnley took 2,700 to Sheff U, about twice what we took, but lets see what their followings are like after they've spent 10 years in the Championship/Lge 1. Norwich took 2099 to Rotherham, fantastic away support. Preston took 507 to Reading for a Saturday 3pm KO, that's all the ammunition you need if any of their fans start telling you they're better supported than us.

The Preston game at Reading was Friday night live on Sky.

It was great travelling away in 2017/18; lots of new grounds for many of our fans and some good local games at Rochdale and Bury, mind you we were only given 870 tickets for Fleetwood and c900 for Wimbledon so we made up numbers elsewhere.

Don't know how I missed that one, I actually watched that game! Apologies to the knob enders.

Home support : It all seems a bit pointless me giving my views on the Rovers home support because everyone knows my feelings and as I've said before, deep down I know it will never get any better, it'll never even get to respectable. I did a count on the sold BB end tickets before the game and I can tell you there was nowhere near that amount of people there, meaning a lot of season ticket holders chose to miss the game because of a bit of snow and cold weather. What would that type of fan have added to the atmosphere today even if they had turned up?

The sad fact is the percentage of noisy fans that go on Ewood every other week is so low that we'll never have a respectable atmosphere in such a big ground. The players weren't up for it and neither were the fans - right from the start, well before we went behind, it just had the feel of a very flat day, even flatter than normal and that's obviously saying something.

I can't really blame anyone who wanted to leave early today, let's be honest if the ground is emptying with 10 mins to go when we're 2 and 3 up, people are hardly likely to stay to the end when we're getting wankered.

Away support : Loudest of the season without doubt. Put the result the other way round and you'd obviously have a different story, football support in the modern era is more result dependent than it was in the 70's or 80's, fan's are simply more fickle than they were.

Regardless of that, the noise from the Preston fans today was very impressive and you have to give credit where it is due. A following of around 5000 was very good and obviously they had a lot to shout about today as they were by far and away the best team all game. New fan league leaders and well deserved.

Anything Funny/Of Interest? : Found out for certain today that 2 of our little W01 clan have been banned for a while. One as Imentioned in the last home report for an incident at the Birmingham home game that I stand by was very harsh. The other was apparently for fighting at the Blackpool away game and if this is true then you can't really defend it.

One thing that was apparent today in our section is that some of our fans can't accept getting shit from the away fans. If you give it, you've got to be able to take it I'm afraid. One fan got chucked out near the end for going well out his way to front up to a copper that was only coming up to stop some young Rovers fans from chucking snow balls at the Preston fans. I think some people are just anti police and behave in their presence in a different way than they normally do. We had our day at Deepdale a few months ago and give it to the nobbers, they had their day today and I'm afraid you've got to be grown up about it.

Summary : On the pitch as poor a performance as I can recall at Ewood, off the pitch we were equally hammered, one was a bit of a shock the other wasn't. For anyone that says we had nothing to shout about today, well we have in 80% of the games at Ewood this season and we still can't get the place bouncing. The 4800 Preston fans in the bottom tier of the Darwen end today shows what noise can come from the stands if everyone is singing, we won't get half that noise from the Blackburn end all season. Our support is impossible to defend, anyone that does is clueless I'm afraid.
