What a bloody day!!!! I can't recall a worse days football EVER!
I was really wanting Kane to thump the second one at loris's chest. Lloris dived to one side for the first so it's obvious to me that he'd do the same again.... and he did. Anything down the middle was most likely to go in.

Loads of whats apps etc targeting poor old 'Arry today. My recollections of penalty taking were that if you are taking one whilst 3-0 up in the last 5 minutes a penalty becomes easy peasy, you can virtually nominate and hit a single square in the nets, alternatively if the team was drawing or even one goal down in an important match then your legs suddenly feel weak and feeble. God only knows how much the importance of that late penalty frayed even Kane's nerves.

I wonder why Southgate persisted with foden so long. He had a poor first half yet was left on until the 85th minute. Saka had been subbed 5 minutes earlier by sterling whilst the player who surely strikes most fear into opposing defences jack grealish didn't make an appearance until the 98th minute.
Some things I admire Southgate for but there are just as many that I can't stand him for. Deschamps won the match for France just as surely as Southgate spewed his chances for the third time in as many years. My gripe with him is that he doesn't learn from his mistakes and his downfall is because he has his favourites which usually is one of the main things that managers must never do.

L'Eqippe getting stick for these ratings but I don't think they are far off the mark. Certainly I for one was more worried about Griezmann and Giraud than the Mbappe loving press and media ranks. In fact I'd have given walker an 8 and stones a 7 for shutting the bugger out so comprehensively.

I've got to say that was a memorable final. Both teams throwing caution to the wind and going full tilt for a winner in extra time whilst thanks to the Ref booking an Argy for wriggling around faking injury (who immediately got up to protest showing no sign of injury whatsoever) there was little to no time wasting caused by faking and pretending. Would that more Refs meted out that treatment.
