Can't help thinking that the bench looks more than a little weak and inexperienced.

27 mins after a fairly even opening period. Rivers losing possession too easily and too frequently to a Leeds team that has obviously done their homework

We need to learn when to play a pass out of defence and when to give it some leather.

If they'd asked lufc of the 60's and 70's to play in pink they'd have walked out!

Cue the usual backsliders beginning to trickle out of Ewood.🙄. Even Leeds fans are singing 'fuck off' at them.

It's obviously disappointing to lose, but we played well, I thought. I can't fault any one of the players. We are missing a man to lead the line. Szmodics knows where the goal is, but he can't out-muscle a defence on his own. We are starting to miss Sam Gallagher.

Bit of a damp squib of a review here...

Wahlstedt
Made a good save in the second-half when it deflected off Pickering. One or two risky passes, but I think he's gaining confidence.

Hill
Excellent attacking down the flank. Put in a good few crosses, and put in some good tackles at the back.

Carter
Somewhat quiet. An early booking didn't help.

S Wharton
Man of the Match. A rock at the back. Showing signs of the player that belatedly burst onto the Rovers scene two or three years ago.

Brittain
Got forward well, but too tentative today.

Pickering
Solid. Got forward well on a couple of occasions. Feel as though he is making up for his lack of pace with bits of positional intelligence.

Tronstad
A good showing. Does the defensive job very well, and is good at getting us moving by shifting it onto a more creative player.

A Wharton
Superb. Great range of passing that put us on the front font on many occasions.

Moran
Good neat play all-around. Unlucky to get booked.

Szmodics
One of his quieter games where I think he looked frustrated.

Leonard
Could have done better with his offside header. Worked hard, but nothing really came to him.

As for the subs...

Sigurdsson
Looked a little rusty at first, but grew into the game before it was dead. Has some real quality, but he needs a solid run. Been a bit-part season for him so far.

Garrett
Did OK when he came on. The penalty shout was a nothing because he left his leg out to go over the man, and is a little lucky to not be carded for it.

Ennis
Good to see him get a little run, but didn't amount to anything effective. Feels as though he is returning a little too early.

Markanday
Worked hard, but to no effect.

I'm proud of the players in spite of defeat. Better days will come if we keep going. Today just wasn't meant to be, and I always felt everything was going against us with that lot coming to town in an early kick-off. Farke isn't much cop in my opinon.

Well that was shit! Leeds won in first gear.

In recent years we seem to show no bottle at all in many of the games that can be considered a 'derby' or 'rivalry' game.

From memory we have been pretty crap against Burnley & Preston and Wigan...
Then these War of the Roses games may as well not exist.

Slip sliding down the congested mid-table now.

Harsh given the injuries that we are suffering. Also the disparity in squad value and no doubt in wages. We know better than most that money doesn't talk in football.... it screams!

Another disappointing result but far from a bad showing and I can't fault the players again for their effort and the neat football we played. Having said that I never really got the feeling we'd score today, the season's pattern of us playing the better football but regularly coming off second best is likely to continue until we can get some experience and steel in the side to back up the very talented players we have.

Not wanting to go over old ground but as a Rovers fan, if your default mindset is that anything other than playing in the Prem is a failure for this club then you're going to be frustrated and miserable for a good while yet.... in all likelihood. We've generally been competing at the top end of this league for 2 1/2 seasons now and given our finances and size, that's far from us being in a desperate situation.

Thought A Wharton had his best game of the season today and I can't pick out anyone for particular criticism, although I would say that Britain (a player I really like) is wasted on the left and doesn't look comfortable there. Even that though is no criticism on the manager, with a squad as thin as ours and the injuries we have, sometimes you have put square pegs in round holes.

I would sum up today's game using an analogy from another one of my favourite sports, Horse Racing. Leeds only won by half a length but in all honesty they never really came off the bridle and probably could have found more if they'd have needed to.

I think we have to accept that the best we can hope for this season is for some good days and good performances but in the likelihood that we'll fall short of the PO's again.

COYB.

I didn’t watch the game today because I was pretty sure we wouldn’t win but with JDT in the stands who was in the technical area and did he motivate the team?
