We'll just have to see how he gets on over there. He should be right at home there, they are a small club with average gates of 16000 losing 20million pa. If he does oK he's still young enough to scam them in 4 years time like he did us.
Scam!!
I would be willing to place a large wager that his early form wasnt deliberate - if it was!! Then I suppose you could say he scammed us. But to say he scammed us is just click bait in social media terms

Wow such bitterness! He didnā€™t scam us at all.

"On the move, Brereton Diaz said: "Itā€™s an unbelievable, massive honour of mine. Such a great club with a great history - so I'm really excited and I canā€™t wait to meet all the players and the staff. When I knew about the opportunity it was a no-brainer for me. It was an unbelievable club who play great football and I canā€™t wait to get started.

"I can't wait for the opportunity. It's a great challenge; a level above where Iā€™ve been playing in England. I canā€™t wait for the new challenge, it's going to be amazing. I just want to work as hard as I can for the team, score goals and play as much as I can. I like to run with the ball, get in the box and score goals. I can't wait to see you all in the friendlies and first games... thanks for everything!"

Great history!!!??? 50 years less history than the rovers and until they won the Europa Cup in 2021 they didn't have any history worth mentioning and won sweet FA! I'm just glad his agent made him turn down our ridiculous 32k pw offer. Not a mention of gratitude to his club and his teammates. A lucky let off for sure.

:joy: :joy: he said his goodbyes and thanks to Rovers and the fans weeks ago!

What are you expecting him to say? It is just standard stuff, they all say the same things - in fact they should do it like a chinese menu
Each platitude should be given a number - lets start with
1 - Yes, No
2 - We go again
etc etc - He just trotted out number 41:joy::joy:

Prob said the same when he came here.
Just a thought but did Forest have a sell on clause? If so they've missed out too.

Said it previously but I think those first 3 years where he struggled (wasn't 4 given his breakthrough season was his 4th) were down to his age. He was 19-21 and in certain positions (striker being one IMO) I think players need time to mature to be effective.

Everyone tends to get very excited about young players, academy players etc and forgets they might be poor for a while before they come good. Who knows, Adam Wharton might need another season before he starts to fulfill his potential. A similar talent to him, Harvey Elliott, isn't there yet in terms of nailing down a Liverpool starting place.

So I just think it brings into question the wisdom of spending Ā£6m on a 19 year old, in an era where good players are prepared to let their contracts run down. You basically need your big money signings to be good straight away (as I say difficult for youngsters) or you need them on massive (say 7-8 years) contracts, which is a big risk if they turn out to be rubbish and then refuse to be sold.

Seems of late to work the other way with strikers imo. Our top men i.e. Shearer, Owen, Rooney, Fowler all burnt themselves out before they were 30. Fair play to Harry Kane for bucking the trend (Hey! maybe BBD and Gally will both buck it too.) GK's and defenders however do seem to improve as they get older, at least until they lose their 5 yard pace or succumb to injury.

BBD proving what most already know. What a pity he and his agent denied the club that invested such silly money a few bob in return. Bad business all round.
Not really his bigger pay bump isn't taxed savagely and does not have to deal with a country which is on its knees and acts as a 360 immigration door. He has great weather and food. His newborn will have a better life.

He will pick up, I am surprised he's not banged a few in as la liga is championship level bar six teams but he will come good.

I was wondering why I hadn't heard anything of Big Benji. Hasn't exactly hit the Spanish road running.
Not much action by all accounts though has managed to pick up 2 yellow cards.

If he takes 3 years to get going then he'll be at his peak then. . .

It's an absolute shambles! A country which cannot defend it's own borders is doomed, one that cannot defend it's own borders from countless ne'er do well scroungers arriving unarmed in small boats and underneath lorries is just a pathetic excuse for a nation.
Spain a nation (occupying 195000 square miles) with a pop of 48 million which is increased by a net 195000 last year. Much of that pop increase will be wealthy individuals from Northern Europe.
England a nation (occupying just 50000 square miles) has seen an annual rise in population of 300000 pa over the past 10 years. England is rapidly becoming swamped in the main by undesirables from Asia and Africa, the majority who bring nothing but begging bowls and who in the main only boost the black (cash) economy.
Leave an overseas destination and fly back to the UK and it just appears to be hell on earth. Rubbish all over the streets, poor roads and traffic queues forever, squalid towns and cities etc etc. I'm sure our forebears didn't intend this when they fought two World Wars! When I fly back from holiday these days I honestly become depressed.

Drog I canā€™t argue but the uk has been in paralysis for ten years. Thatā€™s seen 10 million ā€œindigenous folkā€ as Aussies coin the term, leave. Many high tax payers. Youā€™ve replaced them with a low skill retail based economy. Iā€™m gutted thatā€™s why I left, il never come back because of it and what the uk has become but benji isnā€™t that much younger, he must think the same.

Any how he will come good, good players do.

If only we could escape the 3rd world swamp easily - to the EU perhaps?

I want to know what happens to all the dingies. Are they available for escaping Brits?

I bet Hitler would spin in his grave if he knew he could have invaded with just a few rubber dingies.

Tbf they mainly boarded a CIA express train for the atlmoic usa weapon program. Or they drifted to barrioulloche in Argentina.
