I mean what established club at this level signs a 37!year old past it CB?
Tony Gale wasn't quite 37 but it was the Prem and he did an ok job for us. Kevin Moran, Sid Cowans, Speedie all past their best rapidly became crowd favourites. All this chap is is an experienced sub.

Different pace and style of game back then though. Sub, he’s starting today with Hyam in a back four 😂

One of our glaring weaknesses is in the air. We needed a defensive brute, and we got one. Pace might be an issue, but I think in our current situation we need experienced leaders in the team. You are probably right on the intensity side of the game, but let's see.

I agree I actually hope he will be okay but Cov fans thought he was past it last year and it’s a bloody strange signing on paper.

When a gaffer goes, you usually get a few comments from staff or players at the club acknowledging the work he did. Even Tomasson acknowledged Mowbray after being appointed

The only acknowledging comment for Tomasson is from Broughton who, let's face facts, was the one who brought him to the club. Even that acknowledgement wasn't through official channels.

I get the increasing impression that Tomasson was not well-liked within the club. Performances on the pitch suggested it, and the lack of acknowledgement since his departure confirms it to me. Tomasson might have been liked by the supporters, but beyond gaslighting his superiors, I'm struggling to understand why.

I saw the video… posted it in Eustace thread.
Why was he striding approx 10 yards ahead of a manger who d clearly been from a PR pov set up to walk into the gates? Dosent exactly set the right tone does it?

Greggs departing soon, has another job abroad lined up is what I’ve heard. I also hear a number of January signings were not his and made around him.

Don’t know. Who is his agent?

Obviously Buckley, Travis and hedges* (I'm thinking he'd been shut out by jdt or he'd shut himself out, otherwise his surprise inclusion today doesn't compute) didn't like him and I'm hearing there are more names on that list.

And as a parting opinion - JDT clearly want one and two touch pass and move football - Travis needed 3 at least - couldnt see a pass and is slow - Bravo for moving him on
I’ve always liked Travis because of his attitude, and I do think it’s tough on defensive midfielders expecting them to be good at both sides of the game when their primary job is to protect the defence.

But seeing Rothwell come on for Southampton yesterday and be the best player on the park by a country mile, did make me think he’s the type of player that would have been perfect for JDT but we didn’t try to replace.

In fairness Alan there were occasions when visiting clubs put 2 players on Rothwell.

On top of Dolan's post-match comments, Pears also weighed in a bit.

"We've made hard work of scoring goals before"

Polite criticism of Tomasson's ways, and perhaps even his man management, seems to have come out of the woodwork over the last few days. The more time passes, the gladder I am that he's gone.

Brittain is getting in on the act, too.

"I think it's something we needed to get back, back to basics. Keeping a structure and using our strengths."

"Gally, we have him in the team for a reason, let's use him properly."

"As a group, we have spoken in the last week about using Gally's strengths. Hedgey coming in at the back post, we don't do it enough."

"I think it is a strength for me, crossing. It wasn't something the last gaffer wanted, it was a different style."

"It was nice to have some freedom today and try to provide."

"The manager (Eustace) told us to take the shackles off, I think we did that today. I'm very excited to work under him."

If JDT had been in charge then having Hedges Dolan and Gallagher back would have resulted in the same score. Maybe the main difference also having the English Kevin Moran helped too.

"After playing a more possession-heavy style under Jon Dahl Tomasson, there was a noticeable change against Stoke. Rovers were far happier to move the ball back to front quicker and it caused problems for the opposition."
Just about what I've been saying for bloody yonks! I think I've missed my calling.😞

That's three players have subtly criticised Tomasson's style since he left. Something clearly wasn't right between the players and Head Coach.

Not only that, but can you imagine these words from Johnson coming out of Tomasson's mouth regarding McFadzean?

"He’s been a breath of fresh of air and he’s just what we’ve needed."

Neither can I. Instead, it would have been a motivational moan at the state of the squad.

Thank God Eustace simplified our style within a matter of hours. I dread to think what we'd be feeling today if Tomasson was still sat in the dugout with arms folded and a look on his face that he wanted be anywhere but Rovers.
