Nice message from our ex manager.
Yes. A nice parting message and I wish him no ill.

To my mind, the argument will always be whether, like Lambert, Tomasson had the right to publicly show discontent of his superiors because things changed and the finances couldn't match the original plan laid out, or if he should have just bitten the bullet and got on with getting the most out of what he had on the pitch.

While he no doubt feels let down by the club, I feel disappointed in Tomasson. We say he "wears his heart on his sleeve" and is "passionate", but performances on the pitch suggested to me that he cared more about making a point of the football we were supposed to be playing, rather than adapting and getting the best out of the squad he had. I do feel an element of game-playing on his part.

There are some other obvious ingredients that I think added to what looked like squad unhappiness. Telling the club captain that he appointed in the first place that he couldn't play in his favoured position. Gallagher, a striker who you'd have thought would love to be coached by Tomasson, wanted to leave. Buckley went out on loan which I really don't think was purely based on finances. None of the players looked happy, even Szmodics who's been banging them in.

It's a shame, overall, but it is what it is, and the last two months had me dreading Tomasson being in the dugout tomorrow. I can understand Tomasson feels like he was mis-sold the project, but I think he did nothing to dig in and help the club which, in turn, is what supporters need to happen, regardless of off-field issues.

A mini era ends.

I hear on the grapevine that JDT is being looked at by the Swedish national team. Accordingly to some Swedish newspaper he has agreed verbally to take the role. Funny how fast things can go if it’s true 🙄
Btw, as a Swede I am not too happy to have Dane as coach for our national team.
Leo Walstedts brief Swedish career is over then!

Well I said it to Drog but I think that's harsh. We finished 7th last season, and we were 7th 40% of the way into this season. The last 2 months has been the exception to the rule with JDT's reign and I think he could have turned it round given time.

Sorry to fly in the face of the general mood about JDT
I am gutted - he has had us playing some amazing football and has had a bad run, that (imo), is down to injury and loss of form by a couple of key players
Hyam and Moran spring most readly to mind
No Gally,JRC, Dolan (although that doesnt really bother me) Pears,Pickering,Carter,Brittan for most of the last few months

And as a parting opinion - JDT clearly want one and two touch pass and move football - Travis needed 3 at least - couldnt see a pass and is slow - Bravo for moving him on

There's an old saying in football "you are only as good as your last game". JDT had lost any momentum that he had built up. He was burdened by injuries to key players but he never changed formation or tactics to take account of that. What's the old quote from Einstein? "Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is insanity."
As for Trav.... no one in their right minds would put him in a creative midfield role! He's a midfield growler and that's that!

But when it comes to Mowbray it was ok to go blindly on?
He hasnt (hadnt) got the personnel to change diddly squat.......which,of course leads into bigger questions
With a fit squad, and with the players we have (had) we would have come good

I'm disappointed he's gone in the sense that he came with so much energy and positivity, and he represented an ambition. It only seems like two minutes ago since he was saying "It's been a good say far!". 🥺

Tomasson won't go down as a legend for me on the basis that I think he has put his own indulgences before the club and created a toxic atmosphere. I know that's not without reason, but he could have accepted the situation and got on with it. He didn't.

All in all, we move forward. We (the supporters) are still here (mostly!), and I'm sure everyone will get behind the new Head Coach and the players when we all know how important it is that we at least stay in this league.

I don’t forgive what’s happened to JDT and I’m angry at the club, but Eustace is a decent bloke and deserves our support without overhanging Monkeys.

Interesting to hear Eustace was a Waggott appointment not Greggs.

Gregg was walking alongside Eustace around the stadium today.

Would be interesting to know who pushed for Eustace. Broughton has been under total radio silence, but I read a report (not a bollocksy one) stating that the Board were very keen on Eustace.

I think you're right, though. It feels like Broughton has been sidelined for this one. Not sure whether it's in the normal remit of a Director of Football to appoint the Head Coach. When Broughton first arrived, it was reported by Sharpe that it's usually a Head Coach that suggests the Director of Football.

Perhaps Broughton is on borrowed time and just quietly overseeing the transition until a new DoF is appointed. Rudy Gestede, anyone?

I saw the video… posted it in Eustace thread.
Why was he striding approx 10 yards ahead of a manger who d clearly been from a PR pov set up to walk into the gates? Dosent exactly set the right tone does it?

Greggs departing soon, has another job abroad lined up is what I’ve heard. I also hear a number of January signings were not his and made around him.

I mean what established club at this level signs a 37!year old past it CB?
