........the health service is crumbling, the economy slowing, lack of immigration is hindering key parts of our economy and a good Brexit deal is nowhere in sight but we’re getting the colour of our passports changed at a cost of 40 billion euros - so rejoice!

Even for you that's a corker. Lack??!! Let's dispense with the net figure for once which always makes the picture less alarming than it actually is. Immigration has been over half a million a year for a while now. What would you like it to be Jim? 1 million? 10 million? How about 50 million and we'll just double in size every year?
I assume you'll be housing as many as Geldoff ended up doing whatever the figure is.

Funny how the remoaners are making a big deal over a poxy colour change and how it's going to take so long haha Muppets ..they need changing when they run out as it stands .

Why is it costing money? It's only being used for new and expired passports.
Some might point the finger of blame at Bob Geldoff et al for helping with all that famine relief. The population of Africa we are told is set to double by 2050 so how many will be starving by then and how many will end up baling out leaky boats in the med or living in tents near Calais? For eons the population of Afrika has found it's own level and in the past century medical science has screwed the natural balance and will be responsible for much increased suffering. It's just no good controlling the number of deaths with no regard to the number of births.

Think you summed it up perfectly with that last sentence. In my opinion there's an argument to be made that birth rate control should have been brought in as soon as medical science started seriously cutting into the death rate about 100 years ago.
The future we've got now population-wise is:
A. Birth rate control.
B. Natural levelling off due to rise in societal development.
C. Global societal crash/environment destruction, killing hundreds of millions.
B is looking like pie in the sky when you look at the pressure to reproduce applied by religion. And A is a mile off when the political left consider even immigration control anathema.

The article relies entirely on a single source and makes no mention of the government's own research which predicts growth will be stuck at historically low levels for years, even in the unlikely event Brexit is a success
There is no mention of EU economic growth currently outstripping Britain's by a large margin, nor the fact that we haven't even started talking about a future trade deal yet.
Basically, the Mail is saying "One marginal thinktank agrees with our point of view, so we will quote them at length and pretend this is the truth."
It's called confirmation bias. The article should be dismissed.

Bin it for me too unless it can be adapted to represent truly public spirited people and efforts. Knighting Richard Starkey 50 years on and especially when, to quote Lennon, he wasn't even the best drummer in the beatles is just pathetic.
