Is "quincy":
* a stomach upset perhaps caused by over indulgence on Christmas Day
* some other medical condition
* the name of a femme fatale, pretty but over tiring
* none of the above

I am intrigued.

I'd open a bottle of champagne but I fear it'll be flat.

I’m afraid Ben hasn’t filled me with any confidence . Granted I’ve only seen him at home games and only in substitute cameos but on Saturday when he came on he was poor . There was one passage of play when he jumped up for a header , his head, arms and upper body seemed to roll up in a ball, probably to protect himself and he ended up at a lower height than his own height and got nowhere near the ball . Frankly it looked embarrassing

However some professional football people , who’ve no doubt forgotten more about the game than I know , seem to rate him as a real prospect including Tony Mowbray

He’s now our player , he’s only 19 and he’s had little game time so far . I’m willing to give him a season of regular football before passing judgement

Excellent post Amo .

I guess with the team moving in the right direction and Rovers looking and acting like a normal club , I’m desperate for our first ‘big’ signing in quite some time to be a success, despite what I’ve seen of him so far .

Danny G. signing for a further year will help greatly with Ben's development and progress.

I saw quite a few of his games for England youth on TV. He looked useful, better than he has for us, scored a few and missed as many, not as good in the air as a lad of his size should be.

He's a 'project' for what is now an undisclosed fee and the only way that increases is by getting game time and playing well, unless his agent, and therefore TM's, can pull of another coup.

Anyway he's definately one of us now so I wish him well for all our benefit.

Good luck to young Ben then and lets hope he won´t get booed too much. I feel a bit sorry for him actually and during the circumstances he did well in his first start against Sheffield UTD when he was up against a solid and compact defense. However, all these 5,10 or 15 min as a substitute have been far from impressive. For instance yesterdays game against Newcastle he hardly touched the ball if my memory serves me right and his positioning is not very good either. He looks like Bambi on ice and he is not friend with the ball. Basically poor touch on the ball from time to time. I guess his self confidence is quite low and when we play with only one striker in our formation his chances will be limited to get into the starting eleven. How will it be if we get Sam Gallagher or someone else in on loan? He will even get less time if a decent striker comes into the squad.

This transfer confuses me more and more and i wonder who´s decision this was? For seven million pound i expect that we buy a player who will go directly into the starting eleven. I mean, we are not Man C or UTD who can buy youngsters for millions and put them in the U21 team to develop. IMO these money could have been spent better on full backs and wingers that we desperately need. Done is done and i hope Ben delivers the goods somehow but i am not sure he will unfortunately. :(

I've 'liked' that Robin but I don't.... if you know what I mean. We just don't have an 'agree' button.

Apparently he was ducking out of headers against Newcastle. I get that his confidence must be shot, but it's not going to improve unless he puts himself about more. Like Robin said, we're not in the position to buy youth prospects for £7m and farm them out to other clubs. For that money we need someone who can come in and hit the ground running.
His "attempts" to challenge for headers was laughable. Except I didn't laugh.
He looks scared to death. A bit like that kid who was last pick at school and did everything possible not to get involved

I must say that I was a little slower but stronger and more savvy between the ages of 25 and 30 than I was at 19 and scored a lot more goals as a result. However that was strictly local amateur level and I wasn't on a 3.5 year professional contract. Brererton has it all to do before his contract runs down in 2022 when he will still only be 23. The longer he takes to get up to speed the more costly he becomes.

Dunno how his agent does it but he does seem able to get ex pros to write good things about him. A few comments in this piece might raise a few eyebrows around these parts from Ewood regulars.

Says in that piece that right wing isn't his position yet I've seen him put on to play right wing on numerous occasions. How weird is that when we usually have ready made wide men on the bench in Rothwell and Conway? Is it possible that somehow the size of the fee (and no doubt TM's personal judgement persuaded the owners to stump up the cash) is compelling TM to play him in the hope of somehow justifying his purchase to the owners in Pune? It seems to everyone that Brereton should be playing with the U23's until next season (the Bill Shankly way), but would that earn TM a bollocking perhaps? If so he needs to be very careful because the ewood faithful will tolerate a poor performer for only so long before they'll turn on him. The atmosphere could soon become poisonous which could easily have the Kevin Davies effect of worsening his performances and making his situation at BRFC untenable.

Seems Ben Brereton was inconsolable and in tears after the Birmingham FA cup defeat. Hauled off again early doors. Well bloody diddums! If any player suffering a poor run of form wants to keep the crowd on his side AND contribute to the team performance then it has to be with effort and graft! I see none of that in him whatsoever. He plods around the pitch looking lost and 'waiting' for things to happen when in his position he needs to be charging around 'making' them happen!

Please please venkys will you forensically investigate the issues surrounding his transfer from Forest! It needs to be done for sure or it will stink up the place. That big lummox Stockley came on yesterday and it was the first time I've seen him in the flesh. A poor player with lower league ability BUT with the heart of a lion and a bad ass attitude to the opposition. There must be better options around for sure but he can make things happen and I'd straight swap him in a minute for our big money headline buy.

A loan abroad would be a perfect solution in my opinion, there’s something not quite right with Ben at the moment. Like Waggy I also believe there is a player in there somewhere.
