I went to Waitrose at Christmas and they didn't have it either! Whilst I was asking the wines and spirits assistant what the world was coming to a lady overheard our conversation and told me that Sainsbury's had plenty.
Benedictine is weird. It's so popular in the pubs, hotels and clubs around here yet as rare as Hens teeth south of Bolton.

Careful chaps! Speaking from experience........... Taken to excess Bene leaves one hell of a hangover the day after!
I recall the Rovers being snowed off one night in the early (i think) 90's. At a loss of what to do three of us repaired to the Butlers arms and spent the time between 8 and 11pm on numerous pints with Benny chasers! I'd estimate that at at least 3 per hour and the hangovers were that bad that all three ducked work the day after!

I remember learning that lesson too . I was in The Railway on an after work session , Christmas 1987 . Same as Drog , drinking pints with Bene chasers . Paid the price the following day .

Got to say my Bene intake has increased on lockdown weekends . My old employer supplies me with a trio of bottles at Christmas . Beginning to wonder if I’ll need to take a trip to Sainsbury’s sooner rather than later , just in case this thread starts some panic buying !

One point that’s puzzled me . I’m sure they used to sell a bigger bottle alongside the smaller one they sell now .

Just ordered a bottle for free delivery ( don’t have Prime ) this Sunday . Decent value with a small saving on the cost per litre of the supermarket 50cl bottles

I recall Benedictine and Brandy being bottled at one time. It's a fine mix but some company decided to bottle the cocktail. Only had it once, it was on optic at Rishton GC. Bene can get a bit 'sweet' but add a brandy and it levels it out nicely.

As the article says , Benedictine and Brandy is very popular in the States . In my experience, certainly in the NJ , NY and Long Island area , easy to get a B & B , but Bene on its own is quite rare .

Sainsbury's won't deliver to me because they say I'm not on their susceptible patients list although I have had a letter from my doctor to say I am (transplant patient on suppression drugs) so I've ordered it from Amazon Prime. Thanks a lot WB.
