Al, I'm not sure, I generally don't like spirits, but I'll give it a go!!!!!!!

Don't give it er indoors dave! I must say my wife does like it more than me as an after dinner liqueur but I use it as a medicine dave! Over eat and the best cure for that horrible 'pogged' feeling is a large bene. Within 10 minutes you are right as rain. Strange but true........ and very well known over here.

Followed your suggestion yesterday evening, Theno, and served a nice hot glass as a "dessert" to a previously sceptical better half, after slightly over indulging on the baked trout and root veg, only to see an almost Damascene conversion to the Holy Water. What have I done?

Sounds good slks but unlike Al I'm not a big fan of 'bene n ot'. Just as it comes or with a shot of brandy being my preferred after dinner choice.

My late Dad used to describe Bene in that way SLKS ! I converted the wife ( a Yorkshire lass ) quite some time ago, resulting in a bottle of Bene only lasting half as long

My preference is generally to reach for what Shane MacGowan described as the "ginger lady" OOT, especially the Islay and Speyside varieties. Of course the term for these translates in to English as the "water of life". Like the bene, OOT, the whisk(e)y was developed by monks so they really are 'spiritual' in every sense of the word!

My Bene stocks are beginning to run out and with Christmas approaching and the Rovers now playing like Barcelona, I’m pretty sure I’ll need lots more and soon !

A 70 cl bottle from Amazon costs £26.95 ( free p&p) and a 50cl bottle from ASDA is currently £19 , making ASDA a fraction cheaper per cl .
