Booing BLM

Football is supposed to bring peoples together, not by highlighting a particular problem.
Where were they in different times? Why not the Palestinians? Why not the Ukrainians? The Uyhgars .
Where does it end?
They are all worthy causes, but, there are a lot of worthy causes around the world.
Instead of kneeling, why don't they donate a week's wages to their "cause"?
See how many are "committed" enough to join in then.

Like you guys I can’t stand the BLM rubbish . Below is an email I was going to send to Mr Waggott a couple of weeks ago , but I didn’t because if he couldn’t have given me that cast iron guarantee, then my threat would have been an idle one . The wife says she’s going to boo and shout “ get up “ if Rovers players take the knee on Saturday . I’ve never been thrown out of Ewood but I might have to join her ! Anyway the email I didn’t send :

Dear Mr Waggott ,

I send you this email with a heavy heart . I have supported the Rovers since 1966/ 67 seeing bad , good and great times . The Famous Blue and White Halves have been a big part of my life .

Along with my wife , who now accompanies me to games , we are ready to renew our season tickets in the Jack Walker Stand for the 21/22 season .

However we will only make that purchase if you can offer us a cast iron guarantee that Rovers players will not take the knee at home games . I understand that the players may think it is their right to make the statement, but at the same time we have a right to withdraw our support if they do .

We are not part of the problem the likes of Gareth Southgate and Gary Lineker say we are . We are a mixed couple , my wife is Black British Caribbean . Taking the knee is linked to the BLM Movement, a hard left, divisive , anti - family , anti police and anti Capitalist pressure group . In our opinion it has put back race relations decades and as such , shouldn’t be represented at Ewood Park , either on or off the pitch .

We have never experienced racism inside the ground , in fact in our opinion Rovers are and always have been leaders in anti- racism and diversity. I believe Ewood is a safe and welcoming environment for all . I’m proud to support a club of such standing . The Kick It Out Campaign has been a huge success and I suggest that is the campaign Rovers’ players should continue to get behind .

I hope you can reassure us that Rovers players won’t take the knee , but if you can’t, and they believe it is their right ( although as employees such a right is probably a grey area in employment law ) , then I trust you will understand Ewood Park is currently not the place for us .

Thank you for considering the contents of my email .

You could still send that with a bit of modification. The fact that your wife, who is a highly respectable lady, supports you should make the point of your letter a good deal stronger. You are in a small group who can make a unique case.

Yes that’s a good idea Al . Does anyone have Mr Waggott’s email address to hand ?

We are a tad concerned about the toxic atmosphere that ‘ taking the knee ‘ could cause , creating division between those for and against . Rovers should tell/ instruct the players to stand proud , arm in arm with a ‘kick it out’ flag . That will unite all of us .

We don’t want racism.
We don’t want BLM.

If footballers want to set a good example to the kids of this nation then how about making foul and abusive language an automatic red (it actually is but no one takes any notice in the professional game), as well as cutting out the diving, screaming and play acting in the hope of getting opponents sent off. TV replays frequently show them in a bad light anyway.

It would be nice to hear what response you receive from Mr Waggott.

The problem with BLM is the kneeling and black power fist. Why don’t they find another gensture which isn’t related at all to black power or BLM as a movement and I’m sure the rest of the fans would probably be allot more tolerant and understanding.

I mentioned that in my email to Mr Waggott , Dfc . Why deliberately cause division by taking the knee and raising a fist ?

Rovers players need to stand up proud , link arms and display a kick it out / anti - racist flag . That will, I believe , unite us all , from the pitch to the stands .
Well said OOT. Racism is abhorrent, so is the BLM ‘movement’.

Just an update . Haven’t yet had a reply to my email from Mr Waggott .

In the meantime I thought this was a reasonably balanced and civilised discussion on GBNews about BLM and taking the knee, although the guy on the left from Kick It Out was a tad arrogant and refuses to understand a point of view other than his own . He got taken to the cleaners by Michelle at around 9 minutes onwards . The guy on the right , well , I agreed with every point he made :

Best way to make a protest Dunn is to be there and either boo / turn away / stay in the concourse until kick off. Failing that you really should notify the Club of your decision and why you have taken it or it may be seen as a loss to Covid.

2000 tickets down ..... I wonder why the club don't conduct a survey amongst ST holders on whether the club (OUR club, not the club of the players or the board etc) should continue with this bollocks? We are the paying public after all. That way it would become a case of 'who pays the piper, calls the tune' as it stands it seems to me to be a case of the tail wagging a reluctant dog.

Pathetic , virtue signalling , overpaid narcissists . The vast majority of the players are transitory , after they’ve made their money and long gone , we'll still be there .

That’s totally naffed me off and in addition Mr Waggott hasn’t had the decency to reply to my reasonable and polite email . Bloody hell Rovers 😡

No I won’t financially contribute whilst this gimmick is at large. That said il draft an email this week to the club underlying my frustrations with this pathetic nonseical “gesture”.
