Like you guys I can’t stand the BLM rubbish . Below is an email I was going to send to Mr Waggott a couple of weeks ago , but I didn’t because if he couldn’t have given me that cast iron guarantee, then my threat would have been an idle one . The wife says she’s going to boo and shout “ get up “ if Rovers players take the knee on Saturday . I’ve never been thrown out of Ewood but I might have to join her ! Anyway the email I didn’t send :
Dear Mr Waggott ,
I send you this email with a heavy heart . I have supported the Rovers since 1966/ 67 seeing bad , good and great times . The Famous Blue and White Halves have been a big part of my life .
Along with my wife , who now accompanies me to games , we are ready to renew our season tickets in the Jack Walker Stand for the 21/22 season .
However we will only make that purchase if you can offer us a cast iron guarantee that Rovers players will not take the knee at home games . I understand that the players may think it is their right to make the statement, but at the same time we have a right to withdraw our support if they do .
We are not part of the problem the likes of Gareth Southgate and Gary Lineker say we are . We are a mixed couple , my wife is Black British Caribbean . Taking the knee is linked to the BLM Movement, a hard left, divisive , anti - family , anti police and anti Capitalist pressure group . In our opinion it has put back race relations decades and as such , shouldn’t be represented at Ewood Park , either on or off the pitch .
We have never experienced racism inside the ground , in fact in our opinion Rovers are and always have been leaders in anti- racism and diversity. I believe Ewood is a safe and welcoming environment for all . I’m proud to support a club of such standing . The Kick It Out Campaign has been a huge success and I suggest that is the campaign Rovers’ players should continue to get behind .
I hope you can reassure us that Rovers players won’t take the knee , but if you can’t, and they believe it is their right ( although as employees such a right is probably a grey area in employment law ) , then I trust you will understand Ewood Park is currently not the place for us .
Thank you for considering the contents of my email .
