For some reason we generally perform better in the North east than the South coast but putting that aside very much depends on Bruce's attitude to this Cup. If he plays the kids we could easily win, if he plays the first team it'll be tough. A fine 0-2 opening day away win on Sat at WHU but with some mixed pre-season results including defeats by Boro (5-1) and Stoke (0-1) from the championship kind of makes this difficult to predict...... other than to predict that it won't be 0-0!
They've signed Callum Wilson from Brighton and they have of course the unpredictable and dangerous San Maximin up against our leaky back 4
eek
but apart from those two plus the muscle of Carroll, the marvellous midfield orchestration of Jonjo Shelvey and the attitude of Ritchie the rest are relatively ordinary. I doubt Bruce will play all 5 though so much depends on his selection.
One pointer might be that NUFC don't play after tonight until they entertain Brighton on Sunday. Brighton probably being seen as more of a 'must win' game by Bruce than if they were playing a top Prem team.
EDIT .... many changes tonight by both teams throwing all our predictions to the wind. Of the above 'danger men' I identified only Ritchie will be playing with San Maximim on the bench. As for us Rothwell and Dolan starting with TM's lovechild again leading the line and thankfully a pretty strong bench.
