Correct2 whartons and a Barnes perhaps?
Think it took a deflection off the defender's boot looking at the replay.84 mins 4-3. Some great goals bc tonight bc but this was probably the best of the lot.
Batty was run ragged, the one fault in Gilsenan’s game is that he did not back track and help Batty out defensively.Anyone impress/not impress? 6 starters you'd expect to be challenging for first team places in Brittain, S Wharton, A Wharton, Buckley, Hedges and Ennis.
Can't tell much from the highlights but looking at their first 2 and his fairly early substitution, it seems Jake Batty struggled at left-back.
Btw I was sat next to Barnes gf last night (so I was informed). A very attractive ... no beautiful young lady. She obviously elected to sit near me by choice so the legendary Drog ferrimones have obviously not deteriorated over the years. But how these young footballers attract such good looking women baffles me.Correct
First team regulars usually show up well in these games and the likes of WhartonA, Ennis, Brittain, Hedges, Garrett, Pickering all looked a cut above. Sam Barnes, Hilton and Scott Wharton did ok but despite the possession stats I thought Walsall didnt have to try too hard to score. Batty had a mare which was disappointing.Anyone impress/not impress? 6 starters you'd expect to be challenging for first team places in Brittain, S Wharton, A Wharton, Buckley, Hedges and Ennis.

Yeah, perfect physiques, about 10% body fat, high-level athletes with a chance of future fame, wealth and status. Power..... is the ultimate aphrodisiac I believe.Well I'm sure that has a big part to play, but I don't imagine youngsters like Barnes who (until last night) have never played at senior level are on that much wage-wise.
Personally I give a bit of credit to footballers characters and general approach to life. People rave about Team GB medal winners in the Olympic Games, but its probably about 100 times harder to be a Championship footballer than to be an Olympic gold medallist in say kayaking, because you had to be better than 100 times as many people. For football, along with the million other British youngsters in your generation who've given the game a crack, you also need to be better than the millions who gave it a crack in other countries given Championship clubs can also buy from abroad. Compare that to the 1 bloke I've ever met who was into kayaking and the relative lack of competition he'd be up against if he wanted to reach the top.
So even Sam Barnes is the best of the best of the best when compared to someone who played for say their primary school team. He's survived a decade at Rovers' academy since the age of 12, in which time I'd imagine maybe a thousand other very talented kids have come and gone, as my understanding of club's academies these days is they tend to invite a heck of a lot of youngsters, and then give them all a very short time to prove themselves, with 90% just being let go again say 12 weeks later.
Dunny was never the best in his academy group from what I've heard, he was obviously just the most driven and determined. I'd say that's as attractive to women as money.
