No he's not. He might not be great either but he'd be in my squad before any of that lot that I have listed in terms of effort and graft alone. I must at this point be fair to Gladwin as I've seen very little of him so I might have misjudged him. However I've seen far more than enough of the rest of the shiftless bunch.I know you were not addressing that to me but my answer is NO. I don't want Lowe here at all, swap or not. If he's on the books the danger is that somebody will play him and you are immediately playing with 10 men. He's that poor.
http://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/ipswich-town-place-500k-price-tag-on-david-mcgoldrick-1-5369257Any comments on McGoldrick? I know nothing about him. Is he a target man type? Is he past it at 30?
No ire. Just my opinion of two very poor players who I'm glad to see will no longer waste a shirt in the Rovers squad. No he's not. He might not be great either but he'd be in my squad before any of that lot that I have listed in terms of effort and graft alone. Just as an aside Al now that Lowe and Feeney are gone who are you lining up to target for your ire next season?
I've not too many arguments with that except that I think that Smallwood is worth hanging on to along with Williams (as back up for LB and CH - just tell him to leave the headers in the opponents box to others) and as earlier commented by Wilpshire Blue I don't think we will see Payne back next season. He's not a poor player but he is already 23 and won't improve much more. I don't want to pay a lot for a bit time player. I also hope that it's not a season too far for Graham.Obvious that he isn't in Benitez's plans so it's whethet they want to realise funds or a player off the wage bill. I like Armstrong. As Souness once said of Thommo... 'He's spikey'. He's quick with good control, an eye for goal and imo for one so young punches well above his weight.
I'll list the main members of our squad from last season and put their League 'level' alongside. Obviously we need to 'lose' the 1's and 2's. Feel free to criticise.
Raya... CH
Nyambe 2
Downing 1
Lenihan CH
Mulgrew CH
Williams 1
Bennett CH
Smallwood 1
Evans 1
Armstrong CH
Antonsson 2
Graham CH
Dack CH
Bell CH
Conway 1
Payne CH
Whittingham 1
Samuel 1/2
Nuttall 2
If Danny took a pay cut when we were relegated I can understand that but if not he's already well paid and certainly shouldn't be on more than Bradley Dack. He's not getting any younger and this needs pointing out to his agent. Christ I hate this agent thing. The PFA should be adequate representation for any player below the Premiership..As the old song goes..... There may be trouble ahead.........
Danny Graham is by far the highest paid player I understand and his agent is seeking a raise for next season. And this from a guy who Mowbray usually subs after 65 minutes!
I've been suggesting that we need to bin off Samuel and Nuttall and look for a back to goal target man in the DG mould...... If this isn't resolved we might just need two!
He's an important member of the team currently but he's not irreplaceable. Particularly as he only plays two thirds of a game. Most players are only worth what a club will pay them. Some of them less, though possibly not in Danny's case.Danny Graham is worth as much as any club will pay him, and I don't need to tell you that we are swimming in a bigger pond now.
I think he'd do a great job if he returned to Sunderland... and rem they are still receiving parachute payments.
I'm not sure a replacement is needed. He got himself a lot fitter during last season but I would like to see an alternative recruited who could be a target man and a foil for Dack if Danny proves not to be up to it next season. Is my memory failing me? Wasn't Graham hopeless in the championship last time around? He will be 2 years older too this time!
Course he is making all the right noises (its a Dunny trick) and he did link well with Dack last season but IMO that was a 70/30 Dack lead partnership
So I think a replacement is needed
Indeed, Danny Graham is a good player at what he does but we need another to share his duties. We've all seen how the performance of the team suffers when he is not there as a target man to compete physically with the opposing CH's and Samuel / Nuttall are put in to do his job. Not exaggerating when I believe that the diminutive Armstrong actually does it better then them.I'm not sure a replacement is needed. He got himself a lot fitter during last season but I would like to see an alternative recruited who could be a target man and a foil for Dack if Danny proves not to be up to it next season.
