This one puzzles me and a 4 year contract too .The mind boggles . Either Grayson sees something in Steele that he can develop and improve on or it shows there is a paucity of good goalkeepers knocking around . Rovers need to sign a keeper on loan , preferably from a premier league club . We haven't had a really good and totally reliable one since Brad Friedal

500k ? I'd be worth 250k even now at 50 . Poor keeper . Sunderland how gullible are you ...raped up the pipe by venkyscum!

Familiar pattern here. We move on players who many don't like (invariably to better teams) and replace with poorer players.

Agree but not in this case, he has been the weak link for some time. I'm no expert but he let in some shockers. I hope he turns it round up there. One thing about this manager I fully expect him to have someone lined up as replacement.

Seems many on here are too young to rem the likes of Butcher and Fettis, and latterly even Filan.

Raya's first stint in the first team was a disaster and I was damned glad that we went back to Steele. Raya's second stint has been much better but there is nothing to suggest that he won't regress. I rem John Filan did. Footballers do tend to find their own level. ;). I assume Mowbray has someone cheaper in mind. The kicker will be that Steele is a Championship proven GK and wants a Championship level salary and has now got one so that's fair enough. Possibly he's even reading the smoke signals seen how Lowe was treated and is anticipating those carrying the Ewood virus will direct their ire in his direction now that Lowe appears to be off.

Got to disagree here - he made mistakes that cost goals but I put that down to nerves. He did need taking out of the firing line for sure (both for team reasons and his long term confidence) He was superb at the end of last season and the pressure couldn't have been much higher. I have thought for a long time that he could be a top top keeper one day.

I for one won't be weeping to see the back of him. Never liked him or wanted him right from the start. It didn't help that he replaced Robbo who I thought brought much more to the team than just stopping shots. His influence on the outfield players was invaluable.

Sorry to say but time has proven me wrong. I saw more in that lads ability than he actually had. Great debut but somehow he never lived up to my expectations. I still don't really know what went wrong. I rem most his match v Man Utd, him getting elbowed by Dugarry and his totally innocent clash with Liverpool's Cisse that saw Cisse stretchered off with a broken leg.

What a strange site to publish that story on. Its been years since he played for Gillingham and Charlton isn't Kent. Though I do recall seeing something a few years back with Charlton tapping into that catchment area and Gillingham being upset by it. Its not like he was even at either club for very long they were both loans.

Sure I remember McEveley doing commentary on Radio Rovers once. Could at least have tried to sound slightly enthusiastic. Wendy might have been there though so probably can't blame him lol.

I dropped by to look at the 'dark side' (BRFCS) this morning for the first time in yonks. They really seem to be attracting the lunatic fringe in terms of wind-up merchants these days. Sadly their site is a permanent argument.

Thank goodness for roversfans.com and our middle of the road posters :D

Read the brexit thread and it should be renamed Quisling.com! After a democratic vote went against them the attitudes on there could easily be described as treasonous. Pro european? More like anti-British. They'd have been tarred and feathered in 39-45.

Anyway BB this is the wrong thread for such dismal conversation:sun:.
