Well considering how stupid Venkys are it was probably worth a VERY long shot.

West Brom just brought in Megson as no 2 to Pulis. Silver lining for them at least is that they didn't sign Lowe.

Mulgrew injured for last night's game...after bid turned down for him......coincidence?
I hope so we need him if we are going to challenge for promotion. Lenihan sat it out too so it may just be a case of trying different defenders. Those two have played a lot in the past few weeks.

I'll be interested to see how Willem Tomlinson develops. I need to see him play more before I form an opinion but from the little that I saw of him he looked very promising.

I've heard a rumour that a keeper is having a medical at Rovers today. I don't know any more. Ripley maybe?

If Twitter is to be believed  Ripley is close to joining Bristol City. There are a lot of Boro fans appear to think very highly of him... Let's hope his Dad still has fond memories of Ewood and that Connor still has a few mates around here!

Stuart is his agent, not sure where he lives now.

Wikipedia -
After finishing his playing career, Ripley set up the Castleford Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic, providing physiotherapy to nearby rugby league teams, as well as local football teams.[citation needed] He graduated from the University of Central Lancashire in 2007, with a first class combined honours degree in Law and French.[9]

His son, Connor Ripley, is a goalkeeper and plays for Middlesbrough.[10]

In 2010 Ripley became a qualified solicitor.[11][12] He is a member of FA's Judicial Panel hearing cases relating to matters such as doping, safeguarding, agent activity and discrimination.[12]

Never heard of him but he's 6ft 5inches so he should be OK with crosses. Canadian international.

Be interesting to see who is number 1 choice - Leutwiler or Raya.

Leutwiler will wear number 13 but if this guy played 49 games in L1 for Shrewsbury last season I can't see him coming to Ewood to sit on the bench for most of this season.

Healthy competition either way!

I'd say that knocks the Ripley move on the head.
Anyway this lad's 28 and is likely to have reached as high a level as he is going to get to. Unfair to judge before I've seen him properly but some of the posts read like he might be a ditherer. Good on shots etc but the longer the time that he has to think the likelier he will be to make a cock up. The lower leagues are full of those types.
Oh well we are what we are (or maybe even what we were:worried:) and the likes of Tim Flowers and Brad Freidal can be consigned to the dim and distant memory banks for the time being.
