Correct. Oh for a Kendall / Cowans type to sit, direct and create. Promotion would be a walk in the park. You wont rem them though Marlowe. It is possible although a bit of a gamble that Mulgrew could step up to that role once Lenihan is fit again.

I think Mulgrew moving into midfield would be ideal.
Our problem may be hanging on to him, Dack and I suspect Williams and Lenihan

The other thing is do we stick or twist? (assuming we don't lose anybody) I would stick! This squad should be good enough to get us up, but wouldn't cut it in the league above, so buying Div3 players now could be a burden in the future

My thoughts too Steve.
Too much talk about who we might bring in.
How many teams in the bottom half of the Championship are looking to the likes of us and Wigan as decent sources for a couple of players to help them stay up?
Can you imagine starting February without Raya, Mulgrew and Dack?

Unfortunately - yes I can, it is my main concern for the rest of the season.
Mulgrews continued fitness is either because someone at Rovers has figured out what is needed or the more cynical side of me thinks!! He knows his previous injury record was the only reason he wasn't snapped up pre-season
Dack cant have failed to impress
Raya is very close to being a top keeper
and IMO Williams is the type of player managers love to have - fit, willing, young and underrated by many (ie cheap)

No I can't either. Trying to be objective, why sign Dack in the summer to sell him in January with us sat handily placed for promotion?

I think Mulgrew is past his midfield days and has managed to remain injury free so far this season playing centre half, whilst also weighing in with a few goals and assists. I'd resist the temptation to move him, assuming he stays that is.

Ideally I'd like us to move heaven and earth to keep what we've got and sign a speedy, tricky winger so that our attacking options can be varied.

If Raya could learn to be more commanding from crosses and show more consistency with his distribution, he'd be worth big money one day.

Mowbray will know him from his time at Celtic so that's an obvious link.

Do we need another attack minded Striker/Winger. Personally I think we are desperate for a CM who can dictate play for us as an absolute priority.

Yes but a decent right back is even more important at the moment. Smallwood and Tomlinson can cover CM.

1. I know I suggested it but I did say it was a bit of a gamble. I'd be cautious of switching Mulgrew because he's playing so well at present and fits in well with the players around him. However whilst we just speculate Mowbray has lots of time down at Brockhall to experiment once Lenihan is fit again.

2. Might be a waste as we have a cracking one already subject to his op being a success.

3. I once said to my mate that as soon as Duff learns how to stick it in the net that he'd be gone.... and he of course was. Same with Raya, once he learns how to catch high balls then so will he. In the meantime we shouldn't try to improve him or even let him practice the art...... we should just stick the full backs on the posts for corners!;)

I'd be happy to stick with what we have,is Chapman going back to boro,because he is fast?
Lenihan is going to be back soon,I would rather he played in defence with Charlie.
It's easier to get gametime out of Charles in defence,the further forward he plays Charlie boy will be in danger from the cloggers.

Rakeem Harper has been recalled by West Brom. A labour gain (not political) in my opinion. He was worse than useless and we can get somebody else on loan with the wages saved.
