Roads are for cars!
So ban motorbikes, tractors, buses, lorries, horses, carriages, caravans, rickshaws, and indeed pedestrians from crossing them as well then? And same thing on the pavements, pedestrians only so ban wheelchairs, dogs, motorised scooters, prams?

Both are just a way of getting from A to B and should be flexible. Long term the more cyclists the better if we want to avoid killing the planet.

Now you are being silly. There's a reason why a lot of those are banned from motorways.

Might be being pedantic but actually Alan roads were originally for horses and carts. I've not many problems with cyclists except the buggers that wont give way and think they own the road.

Go back to bridle paths if you like.
They are the ones I have a problem with and unfortunately there are a lot of them. The worst trick they come up with are coming up on your inside at traffic lights when you are signalling left. It's happened to me several times but fortunately I've always spotted them. I don't mind knocking them off their bikes but it damages your car.

I will be driving to my Mum's soon and Hopefully expect, as always, there will be a couple of occasions of cyclists riding 2 or 3 abreast.

I always take care with them, give plenty of room and never pass if I cannot see what is coming. I just wish they were as considerate and also recognise the idiots in cars who overtake on blind bends, hills etc....it will be the cyclist who comes off worse and I would not want to see that.

Correct BB. Ignorant feckers. I know cyclists are allowed to ride 2 abreast but there are a number who courteously go single file and wave cars through but plenty ignorant buggers who don't too. Like pedestrians who think can wander across the road when they want, joggers and the like who dress in dark clothes and frequently run on the left hand side of the road away from the traffic. An early grave is the only thing that is likely to ensue.... and it wont be for the chap in the car!

I would make them all pay congestion charges as all they do down here is cause tailbacks and increase the pollution from my car. My fuel economy drops like a stone in 2nd all the time as most aren't fit and we have loads of hills round here, 5mph is common as the fatties stumble up the hill. I reckon I could run up the hill faster.

Award for the funniest post so far this August.

Perhaps Abbey / Drog etc we can have the funniest post of the month award on a permanent basis?

Oh my where do I start with the cycle bashing. First off pink we do pay bloody road tax as 99.99999% of us have cars. The roads are not just there for cars they are to be shared with other road users. I know you lot can't be serious but I've been knocked off a couple of times by bad drives and it bloody hurts. You can die quick under the wheels of a car.

I don't ride two a beast
I wave cars past
I stop at lights
I don't jump on the curb

The roads are full of cars (normally with one person in them) making unnecessary short trips that could be made by bike, less pollution, less cost to the user and a positive effect on your health that is unless you come across a roversfans.com maniac trying to run you down.

What about riding a horse on the road, how about crossing the road, skateboards, roller skates, joggers?

Road tax (which is not spent on the roads by the way) should be scrapped and put the difference on at the pumps but that is another story. Saving fuel/energy should be rewarded by paying less tax not taxing everything that might move.

However you could also argue, and I will do it for you, cycling burns off fuel which then need to be put back in the form of food, so cyclists eat more, food takes enegy to make and be shipped from one place to another, bugger I'll have a look at the range rover site then...:)

If you are riding one of those electric bikes in the rain, do you get a tingling between the legs.
There used to be a few bikes at school that had that effect
