Like so many of your pearls of wisdom that doesn't stand up to critical disection I'm afraid. 3rd defeat on the spin but the only time that we have had this ref and to the best of my memory there were no real criticisms of the refs in the last two matches. Go figure Abbey.

Good win tonight despite no slug
Really? I only watched the highlights so maybe I'm not qualified to comment but from what I saw I know that we only put out a 'squad' team but on another night Switzerland should have been out of sight. Fortunate that Shakiri's chance fell on his 'swinger' right rather than his lethal left foot.
Much more impressive was Spain's win over Croatia. Croatia contributed hugely by giving an abject display but it just shows how a decent tactician in charge would have seen us brush Croatia aside and get to the final last July. Interesting that Southgate's tactics were criticised by Wright and Dixon for their lack of width in midfield against Switzerland, which is precisely the reason that we lost to Croatia. Seems to me that Gareth's a slow learner.
As for that midfield Loftus Cheek will become quite some player I'm sure and I'd really like to see a way in which England's only player with true world class passing ability Jonjo Shelvey could fit in.

Highlights can be manipulated however you want. Yes it was a friendly but I judge as I see and I enjoyed it . A good all round performance especially from rose
Encouraging to see Ross Barklay featuring in Chelea's squad. A remarkably talented player who should be figuring for England if he can get his head sorted and his act together. On his day I'd rate him in front of Delle Ali but I've no idea what caused his career to stall so much at Everton. No doubt there's a story behind it.

Talksport whilst gushing in praise of the team were on about Englands shortage of real class creative talent in midfield. England imo are a bit like the Rovers playing Evans and Smallwood and making the emphasis on a defensive midfield. imo the run and pass of the match was made by Delph (in setting Sterling free) who was effectively deputising for Jordan Henderson. So given that we have real pace in Sterling and Rashford (sadly Vardy has retired from international duty) are we missing a trick by not having the best passer in English football Jonjo Shelvey available on the bench to make those killer passes down the channels?
