Chris , you're failing on detail again in your rush to make a point . I take it you're referring to :
"Does our liberal , everyone wins a prize no one loses education system, prepare our young sportsman to front up to the mouthy , full of confidence , in your face Aussies ?"
Read it again , you'll find it's a question , not a statement .
Thanks for the information about the 2005 Ashes winning squad, that's quite reassuring , especially for the likes of my wife ,who is cricket mad, teaches at a state school and organises an ex -pro from the Lancashire Cricket Board to coach youngsters in the summer term . It's an initiative that's been in place for 5 years or so. Like the wife , he doesn't stand for any messing and is a strict disciplinarian with the kids , although I accept their approach is seen as very old fashioned by the liberal educational “ experts “ The wife says the youngsters know the boundaries ( excuse the pun ) and thoroughly enjoy his sessions
I was reading an article/contribution ( can't quite remember) when some old working class warrior, obviously still fighting the class war put in his twopenny worth on cricket. He probably follows less cricket than yourself but said it's about time cricket was taken out of public schools ! Now that was a silly statement but in life I've found that a lot on the left are poisoned with envy and spread that poison into areas they haven't any knowledge of
Anyway back to the cricket , hopefully you'll contribute more to this thread. It's great to see you on a thread other than politics and Brexit. Cricket's a great game and as I "stated " in my post , grows mental toughness and is character building. It's never too late to learn about the game Chris , even if it's from the comfort of your armchair . If I can assist in anyway , don't hesitate to ask.
