Got to say it's great to see so many familiar names on here that I've missed. I'm curious though why the change of tack over yonder and why so many newbies who know jack: anyone have any ideas why?

Firstly dr, welcome, I suppose being a friday night in the UK many of the guys who post here will be out and about and welcome you later.
I found out about this place with a message from Thenodrog, thought I'd give it a try.
So far, I've found it to be more like the BRFCS of years ago, when moderation was a self governed thing and bans only came about rarely. It's been very friendly, with only little digs at each other that have been more on the funny side rather than an angry rant at another poster.
I suppose it can be summed up as being more relaxed and forgiving than BRFCCS.
I can only assume the influx of newbies is down to the closure of the official MB.

Many thanks for the welcome Dave, not that any were necessary but appreciated nonetheless.
It will be great if we can get the 'old spirit' back again with sensible moderation without too much political correctness.
I'm more cynical regarding the newbies' influx but sadly that's what the shower who own us have made us become.
It's inevitable with heated debate that there will be fall outs without actually falling out, if that makes sense.
Competitive sport for me is you can kick the shit out of someone on the field, shake hands with them at full time and then buy them a pint.
I look forward to it, after all we're all Rovers together!
None of us have much experience in moderation so please accept our apologies if we get it wrong now and again, but whilst I cannot speak for the others I'll virtually guarantee that before we get to the increasingly heavy handed, dictatorial, jackbooted version that we have all been subjected to simply imo through lack of alternative that we'll simply pull the plug. Been watching Rovers for over 60 years, just can't believe what Venkys have done to my club. I live in Cumbria now and will not attend a home match until they have gone. On a positive note, nice to see so many familiar names on here.
