Non League Football

Since moving to Northwich eighteen months ago, I've only been back to Ewood three or four times. I have got my football fix by going to watch Witton Albion a few times and found the experience quite pleasing. Some passing type football, some long ball and always honest. With Northwich Victoria now very much the second team in the town, Witton find themselves in the Evostik Northern Premier League, Division One South and with a good chance of promotion. Shaw Lane Aquaforce are top on goal difference from Witton who are second. Both teams played 38 and having 90 points. Four games left, one team promoted directly and these two teams play each other tonight in Barnsley where Shaw Lane are based. The winners will probably end up champions.

Perhaps other non league games, stories, stadium visits etc could be added to this new topic.

Shaw Lane won 1-0, so they are now three points ahead of Witton with three games to play and with a much better goal difference. It's theirs to lose.

Chorley have done it.
Winning a penalty shoot out after extra time to be promoted to the National League.
Well done!
Well done Chorley .

I had quite a few mates at my Preston school who lived in Chorley and supported ‘ The Magpies’ . They never stopped going on about a young centre forward who played for them at the time and said he’d eventually play for England . Chorley were playing in the Cheshire League at that time and I thought they were daft . However they were right , that young centre forward was Paul Mariner .

They have a signed Paul Mariner shirt in the clubhouse OOT.
They've been close to promotion on a few occasions recently.
Three or four seasons ago I went to a play off final there when Flitty was manager.
Chorley 2-0 up at half time. Everyone bouncing until they conceded three in the second half :(
So chuffed for them having finally done it as I have a few mates who have been regulars for years.

I much prefer the original HGTTG full stop. That film was awful.

Original Trillion? You mean this one ODB?

I wonder why that stand in linesman with his flag up isn't keeping up with the play.
