And how many world leaders look forward to challenging Putin, as opposed to wanting to work with him, negotiate with him and placate him? From what I see, Putin is doing a remarkable job of advancing Russian international interests. I disagree with him on many fronts (mostly as I am a patriotic American and have a soul) but I do not doubt his competency.
I translate it as an effort on the North’s part to create space between South Korea and the USA, and an effort on the South’s part to keep dialogue open and the prospect of reasonable re-unification. The USA is (or should be) okay with it as talking may avoid shooting.
I hope it’s the first step toward resolving the North’s nuclear aspirations. We’ll see.
