Theno on hearing the narrators voice on the Pleasington hole descriptions I am reminded of this chap. 0A334B56-588C-4E1A-8E48-79799BCDB25E.jpeg

I do recall that photo dave. It'd be brilliant blown up and framed on your 'man cave' wall if you have one.

"What a waste" she'd say, " decorate it this way" etc etc

Peter Alliss has been an absolutely brilliant commentator for golf. A chap who has played golf at the top and on retirement taken to broadcasting like a duck to water. A legend and right up there imo with Richie Benaud for cricket and Dan Maskell for tennis. Only one currently coming close to those three is Geoffrey Boycott.

1. Reflecting on Carol Vorderman and reducing Ken Brown to shocked silence...... and then a fit of laughter during a live TV commentary. https://www.reddit.com/r/ProGolf/comments/3dy66y

2. Alliss the sexist earning a ludicrous public apology from the BBC.......... http://forum.rangersmedia.co.uk/topic/285485-peter-alliss-the-sexist/

Was supposed to be golfing this afternoon but I think I'd be better off with a canoe :(🌧
Nah i never play in the winter. I would get chopped in half with the wind if i went then. I get back into it when i can do a few practice shots on the park(naughty me). Then a serious round comes after that.

.......and to think I braved wind , rain , hail , temporary greens , soggy roughs , puddles , winter rules and just as I was on the cusp of spring/ summer golf ......... they went ahead and shut the course !

Especially disappointed as in my final round on Monday morning, I got two pars . Might not sound much to all you seasoned golfers but major achievement for me !

Providing we don't have a really long period of lockdown OOT, the course will benefit from having nobody playing on it for a few weeks, especially now the growing season is with us.
The greenkeepers are still working, so I'm expecting the course to be in tip-top condition by the end of April.
We will have a round together when things are back to some kind of normality 👍

Sounds OK to me OOT. It usually means you can putt OK. Consistency now being the key.

Thanks Drog . Have to say I’m thoroughly enjoying it and learning the game bit by bit .

Two pars, I'd kill for that.

We are now being told that outside groups of more that two are a no no.
So it looks like our golf group has to was until.......
So, does anyone have any golf training gear at home? Such as driving nets etc?

No! Been meaning to get a driving net for bloody years. I have space both outdoors and inside one of the outbuildings. I am however able to chip and pitch anything up to 50 yards, and I do regularly........ but guess what? It's the weakest part of my game! :( I'm ok when I'm hitting ball after ball with my wedge during practice but when I'm 3 or 4 swings, a couple of putts and 10-20 mins between pitch shots it's entirely different.
Off my handicap I don't really need to hit every green in regulation (in fact there are a number of par 4's that I simply cannot reach in two. I really need to have a lesson and then come home and practice practice practice.

Rather illogical imo. I'm no scientist not expert in epidemiology but golfers always stay a good distance away from each other and as long as flags aren't touched, matches are two ball only, clubhouses are closed and there are no handshakes then I don't see much of a problem.

GA have apparently reversed the decision and are allowing two balls to play. no congregating at the end of the round in a makeshift 19th though.
