Hear hear.
Read in the press......
"How should Tottenham Hotspur, a club with a strong Jewish heritage, mark the horrific events in the Middle East? This was a subject of vexed debate last week, says Jon Sopel, but as I see it, speaking as a Jew and a Spurs fan, the club should carry on as normal. Theatre-goers don't stand, head bowed, for every passing cause. "I don't go to see the Barbie movie to remember victims of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh." Why, then, has football got to express an opinion on everything? One recent example is that of footballers "taking the knee" in honour of the Black Lives Matter movement, following the killing of George Floyd by a racist cop.
That well-intended gesture, which later became "embarrassing and slightly awkward", was at least making an uncontentious point: that racism is bad. But most issues are far more complex and divisive, and football shouldn't feel the need to take a position on them. It's great that players and their clubs support projects in their local communities. But enough with all the " sanctimonious posturing on the pitch. Leave politics to the politicians."
This is all well and good in principle, but personally I'm tired of all the cowards in modern UK society only applying their principles when it's comfortable to do so.

The second the left lean on Spurs for something, never mind Islam, they fold immediately. I bet Spurs have done every woke political gesture going up until now, when it just so happens that behaving to their principles will avoid the ire of the rabid Islamic mob currently rampaging around the country.

I despair with where the Tories, and therefore this country, is going.

A month of 150,000-strong pro-Palestine marches chanting for Jihad, attacking people with British or Israeli flags, attacking poppy sellers, blocking train stations, vandalising buildings, throwing mice into McDonalds, chanting the genocidal "From the river to the sea" song, fighting with police, and threatening the Remembrance Sunday ceremony.

Not a peep from the political left, not a word of criticism. Then some idiotic far right people taint a protest that was just supposed to protect the Cenotaph and object to the Palestine marchers, and the left erupt like its the worst thing they've ever seen. Its so deliberate, so manipulative and tactical. All they saw it as is a chance to get rid of Braverman, they don't care about some skinheads scuffling with the Met Police.

And so the only slim hope of ever getting control of the insane levels of legal and illegal immigration has once again vanished, to be replaced with I'm sure another wet blanket Home Secretary. This country is fooked.

Correct. Sunak is weak and completely out of touch with the common man. Sooner he's gone the better! The men in grey suits have fucked up yet again! If their task is to destroy the conservative party as effectively as events at the start of the 20th century screwed over the once mighty Liberal Party they couldn't be doing a better job! From appointing May the Leaver to complete Brexit, Clown Prince and national embarrassment Johnson, Liz (of 45 days) Truss... and now this clueless, limp wristed, wimp excuse for a leader Sunak!
Gerald Kaufman famously described Michael Foot's 1983 election manifesto as "the longest suicide note in history". I wonder how the events concerning the workings of the 1922 committee since the brexit referendum might be referred to for many years to come?
So a disunited Labour Party or a disgraceful Tory mob? The paucity of the Commons is deplorable. I'm with ODB!.... although we prob won't have a Reform candidate in BwD and of course it wouldn't matter if we had! :pensive:
The only hope for the Tories is that a significant majority will already have lined up behind Suella Braverman.

I was disappointed when Cameron resigned. He strikes me as an intelligent gentleman with more integrity that the current lot.
I was elated as he’d effectively sulked and quit like a baby. He also came out with some utter tripe about brexit being far right.

That said time has passed and he’s a good operator. Shame he didn’t return as PM as he’s wipe the floor with Kier sleezeball.

Dunno about that ODB. The Police are way different and much less disciplined than they used to be and I see that as a gradual decline.
I cite the current case in the news of the police officer who was killed by a chap in custody with a gun! He'd never been properly searched FFS!!!! 40-50 years ago the arresting officers would have been for the high jump as an example to all their comrades in the force.

They certainly contributed to the police demise but nothing compared to cressenda dick being appointed and the Indian stooge who’ve managed to introduce woke kneeling and reverse racial policies such as only employing BAME, stopping stop and search against ethincs which has had a direct result on knife attacks.

Then when you have the flood gates open and increase your population 10 million ideally you need to grown your services around 15 percent as per the increase growth percentage.

That said these days police are not from normal everyday back grounds most are policing by degree despite it not really being a high level skilled role for a degree, which has meant common sense policing and respected people of experience have all but disappeared.

Most police are just to happy to be sat in a car driving around these days, letting cameras do the work for them. It’s lazy.

Just think around three years ago;

Numbers was on course to be Home Secretary not James Cleverly https://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/1834827/diane-abbott-suella-braverman-x-fact-check

Corbyn would have been PM not Sunak

MCDonell as Chancellor instead of Jeremy Hunt

Lammy the Oaf as foreign secretary

😂😂😂 Whoever voted for Labour then need there hard drives checking.

Standards have dropped as entry qualifications have increased..... much the same with nursing.
As an old mate of mine, sadly one, used to say when commenting on various people ..... "If that's a degree then I'm happy to be thick".

It’s called knowing the truth Al.
Balance. It’s been wrong as a matter in under blair and this fake conservative liberal party.

Police I respected, I don’t anymore because I ve been and fought you in court twice and won easily. You know embarrass our nation. Rainbows and kneeling how can you respect that?! It’s not an autocratic nation. You look fucking stupid, if you worked for me I’d have you out the building the next day as I did with people over BLM.

Point still stands grow your population grow your schools grow your busses grow everything. We haven’t because immigration and diversity delivers -20 million a year on existing infrastructure. Get fucking rid of everyone

That will be because (ha2) I couldn’t get a head of procurement from Alstom who’d worked with me in rail for 10 years and Despite being successful he didn’t get the job because he wasn’t
CIPS didn’t get the Hr Gig. Instead I had to Have a degree not wit Ali whom we recruited from something from Karachi , degree from Karachi cost the country 20 million on rebar and steel contracts not knowing nec contracts and X1 in place at procurement. Turks who don’t know nec paid a lawyer in London 18k to sort that.
